this morning I was sat on the tube opposite son of dr who II david troughton

it reminded me of being a youngster and visiting terry nation's house (my dad illustrated "rebecca's world") and he had a dalek in the shed and I was allowed to climb into it

I love the man - he's one of my favourite Doctors. (*) :) I know a photographer from London who works for the BBC sometimes, and he knows Mr. Baker, has met him several times backstage on different occasions.

(*) Growing up in Germany I didn't know much about the Doctor until not too long ago, but have seen loads of the classic shows since then, and I have the feeling I would have *loved* that guy back in the 70s when I was a kid.

It took 40 years for anyone to do a version that holds a candle to Ron/Deliah's original....that being orbital's.....I have little hope of hearing another in my lifetime ;)

There's some hidden gems there, when people got a little more adventurous and experimental than just creating yet another general midi version. Granted, you have to search around a while, but they're there.

Apart from that I agree on the Orbital version (and am really happy because Orbital seem to get together again right now). :)

I got a Classic Sci-Fi themes album off demonoid a while ago, and it has a version of the theme played as written, with full big-band orchestration. I'm not sure if it was sort of "the demo" or a version brought out because the beeb wouldn't release their version, but either way, it's straight from Ron's score.

I will have a sniff round that site some time, although I got a gigantic pack of 100's of remixes off usenet about 2 years ago.

Quite like the version Big Finish came up with for the Paul McGann stories.
