Some of you might be interested and perhaps even sorry to learn the Leroy Smith has died earlier this month.
Leroy was in Sweet Sensation with Marcel King and the two of them performed on the early 70s classic 'sad sweet dreamer'. If,like me you are in your mid/late 40s then you might like to check them out on Youtube.
It's one of those songs that are kinda happy and sad at the same time.
Sad Sweet Dreamer was a great song of it's type,kind of Jackson Five-ish. Reminds me of school days, fairgrounds and ping pong at the yoof club.
I think the band or at least a version of it ended it's days on the chicken in a basket cabaret circuit, Talk of The North and the Willows type of places, still thats better than buying a monkey called bubbles and sleeping with Macauly Culkin and a llama

Maybe this offers a clue to Leroy Smith's next career move. He ran the fried chicken emporium 'Chicken George' in Longsight. He was found in the flat above the shop - where he lived. And died.
Marcel King went onto record 'Reach for Love', released on Factory. SWR reckons it was the greatest track ever released by the label
