Am amazed that no-one has mentioned this yet given (a) the hype, (b) the number of fans of 'quality TV drama' round here, and (c) the fact that Sean Harris and Paddy Considine are both in it.
Anyway, I thought it was great - didn't live up to the pre-publicity (what could?), but I struggle to imagine a better evening in than watching a chunked-out Sean Bean prowling round Yorkshire like some kind of Sheffield version of the Godfather banging on about "fucking gypos".
Gave me a boner, anyway.
Watched half an hour then had to give up. Faaar too grim. Will download and watch to the bitter end though (slowly!).
What a cast though!
Was looking forward to this,but ended up missing it,cos the outlaws decided to visit,I'll try and catch it on 4OD through the week.
Just watched it.. yup its grim, but i love grim. Sean Bean is ace in it.
I noticed the preview of the next one mentioned the Yorkshire Ripper. Anyone know how much (if at all) this trilogy is based on fact?
Watched it last night and enjoyed it - even though it was obvious early on who the guilty one turned out to be.
"This is the Noorrth, Where we do what we wunt" Thats my new catchphrase. The books are even grimmer than the TV . Next week, Peter Sutcliffe makes a guest appearance.
It's still going on though. Saw a Newsnight item on Doncaster Council, the bent Mayor has fucked the place up.

I also enjoyed it but thought the plot meandered a bit.
They didn't properly expand on how the missing child's mother knew the Sean Bean character etc. lots of things hinted at but not really expanded on.
Looking forward to this week's though.
