The party apparently started two days ago. Needless to say, although I thought I was getting an early start, I arrived late...

Stopped in Shannon, Ireland before hitting Kuwait. Was stuck in the airport for 18 hours. Pub was closed as we weeren't allowed to drink. Then the officer-in-charge FINALLY cleared for us to get ONE pint of Guiness... while standing in the long line 10 minutes later, or flight tells us to board....

Mate, you don't want to hear this.....but you missed a genuine experience of a lifetime. Guiness has a half-distance of about 20 miles.....move 20 miles from the banks of the Liffey and it's half as nice, 20 more miles, a quarter, another 20, one eigth. While Shannon is a (European) long way from Dublin, it would still have been as nice as it is up here in the complicated bit. A pint of G from a tap by the Liffey itself is utterly different from any you may have tasted before, it's sweet and really really rich and creamy, you will never want to leave.....even if you hate the shit.

Oddly the canned variety is a shitload nicer in Jesusla.....sorry, the United States (for now), than it is here on the floating moss mat.

PS: There is a legend that whatever "side of the stone" paddy turns over, the wet side or the dry side, will set the weather for the year. In other words, if it pisses today, it'll piss all year. Well, so far we have that wonderful condition of no weather, the sky as uniformly white as clean sheet and not a breath of wind. Cunt musta been out drinking with all those idiot septics that don't even know the date, and has a hangover.

PS, Conrad excepted.....none of you are Irish, not even a wee bit, not even today.....just cope with it (or rejoice in it).

What can I say? Everybody wants to be Irish. Nobody wants to be English. Except for sad bastard Anglophiles, and they're sad bastards.

That's what I've heard. Thing that really pissed me off is the Marines in front of me were probably all Budwieser drinkers and couldn't appreciate a good beer. Soo close....

Isn't it a good job not everyone has a cock as micoscopic as yours. Cos see, the grass is still green, the air is still fresh, and I still don't share a common landmass with a piece of infected foreskin like you.

i got in a fight with someone who insisted they were irish online today. it was funny.

i like the fiver today

FOAM AND FROTH It's St Patrick's Day today. We were hoping Theme Pub O'Fiver would be around to write an amusing skit about the festivities - but he's away in Dublin wearing a big foam top hat shaped as a pint of Guinness, holding a pint of Guinness in each giant Guinness-sponsored foam mitt, spilling both pints of Guinness down the front of his free Guinness St Patrick's Day T-shirt, picking several of his St Patrick's Day teeth out of the gutter as he enjoys the Guinness-sponsored craic, and telling a group of severely disinterested girls that despite his thick Dagenham accent, he actually hails from Donegal. (In fact, Theme Pub O'Fiver is a mere one-sixteenth Irish, and only then because on the night of his conception his mother necked an entire bottle of Paggered Mist, the 93.8%ABV Irish Cream Liqueur-flavoured turps beverage, brewed in Basingstoke by Fiver Industries. But that's a story for another day.)

and also

In much the same way as de feckin' Brits ruled Ireland for 800 years, Plymouth manager Paul Sturrock has ruled out a loan move for Crystal Palace striker Shefki Kuqi.In much the same way as de feckin' Brits denied Ireland Home Rule for 800 years, Sampdoria have denied Italian newspaper reports claiming that Roman Abramovich wants to buy Serie A side Sampdoria.

(football in the regular forum>?!?!?)

St. Patrick's Day: Celebrating Wonderful Irish People With A Shitty American Holiday

I am all for people feeling good about where they come from but St. Patrick’s Day may be the worst holiday of the year. Celebrating Irish heritage is one thing, but celebrating it by embracing all the worst stereotypes of a culture is something else entirely. It would be like us Jews having Money Grubbing Day.

So being a quarter irish, wearing green today, and eating corned-beef and cabbage, whhilst watching the Quiet Man and listening to Dropkick Murphies (which shits all over Flogging Molly)... if that don't make me irish, I don't know what will...

Leprechauns, shamrock, Guinness, horses running through council estates, toothless simpletons, people with eyebrows on their cheeks, badly tarmacced drives in this country, men in platform shoes being arrested for bombings, lots of rocks and Beamish.

Nice to see the Students of QUB celebrate the day in their traditional manner.

"sure, its just a bit of craic" I'm sure is the excuse today. And the Police were in no way heavy handed.

Bunch of cunts.

Like when The Committments came out. All these numpties on art shows giving it "it perpetuates ludicrous sterotypes......I mean horses in council estates.....that's so racist, nobody keeps horses in council estates" Ten mins on a northbound service from Connolly station says they do :D And why the fuck NOT? eh?
