I think the whole thing is very sad. Whilst I have not really wanted to read about it or see it and therefore haven't done so - it makes me uncomfortable, she is a young mum and doesn't deserve some of the critisism she has recieved.
She handled things the way she thought best and surely that is her choice??

very sad. I was never a fan of Jade and she's not always covered herself in glory but shes made a name for herself from a shit childhood and handled dying with cancer how she saw fit and raised awareness. She has been very brave and if nothing else it shows how precious life is and how tragic it is for familys to lose loved ones.

I do feel for those close to her whom she has left behind, they must feel awful, but no matter how deep I search I cannot find one attogramme of nice things to say about her.
I had a pop of her lust for any type of media attention and cash earlier in the thread which I still believe is a valid point of view but perhaps those comments were better aimed at the PR machinery and truly hypocritical tabloids behind her rather than Goody herself.
She purposely and obsessively placed herself in the public domain precisely so people would discuss her - warts and all - and she thrived on it. Towards the end she decided to rake in some money for her kids... well despite my earlier comments and if her bank account was really that low then yeah, fair play.
But I think the people coming out with such overreactions of "cold and heartless twats" or "pretty poor human beings" etc for people basically just pointing out how tacky this whole thing is are venting their spleen at the wrong people.
The newspaper editors who will be printing money for themselves in her memory or the audience they cater for who macabrely hang on every detail of her illness and death are slightly further down the morality scale than any of us lot.

Yeah but come on, that's not quite how the posts have been going is it? Let's not pretend this has been a reasoned debate about the cult of celebrity and mass media manipulation. The vast majority of what's been written here has been emotive and based on the fact that most folk just don't like her ('oxygen thief' anyone?).
Christ, I don't/didn't like her! A poor role model for young lasses everywhere and a poster girl for the anti-intellectualism that permeates the tabloid press. 'There you go girls, don't worry about your education, even a halfwit like Jade Goody can make a million pounds. Just get on Big Brother and shag the right folk and you're there'.
My point is/was that it's the people who claim to be so unimpressed by the likes of Goody and reality TV celebrity that seem to have the most to say about her which I find astonishing and in the circumstances a bit innapropriate. That's all.
