Right, I know when I'm beat. I shall walk away from this one, and leave you all to build your gold statue of Jade in peace.

I didn't know this was the gauge to measure intellegence, if so I'm doubly smartest!

Well, that's not quite how I meant it. I picked that specific example because it always amuses me something rotten, and terrifies me in equal measure. Maybe I'm just determined to prove that being a minority of one does not make you insane.

I'm thinking of manufacturing a Jade vibrator in tribute: much more 21st century than a 'statue'.

Suppose that means I need twice the vibrator? Does Martin plan on making an extra large Jaderator for the likes of me, or do I have to actually purchase two?

Martin, again, you prove you are the most glorious of all NOOL's cunts. Ever considered running for parliament? You'd get my vote (if paddies were allowed a vote natch)

Jim,

just out of interest, couple of questions for you:

1- Whats the "SEN" department like in your school?

2- How are the Years 8-11 (I presume Year 7 is mixed) divided up abilty wise?

I can guarantee that if only you watched more telly, Liam, you would already know the answer to this question.

  1. 5th amendment
  2. For sums they are split into "equal" halves (one slightly more than t'other) and than each half divided into 4 or 5 based on ability.

As Martin says watch telly, Waterloo Road it's so true

Not as true as "Educating Rita", though.

Saw you more as "the History Man" Martin?

Do I get a qualification for seeing and remembering ancient media?

Frads

You get a PhD for that post, Jimbo. That's how easy-peasy this whole limp-wristed media/film/TV/cultural studies shit is.

I have to admit, I always saw you as Michelle Pfeiffer in "Dangerous Minds", prowling the school corridors of Yorkshire's 'ardest gangtas with your buttocks looking particularly pert in a tight black pencil skirt.

I would put an illustrative image in here, but my degrees are so wank that I don't know how to do it. I should have paid more attention at school.

:baby:

BTW - I'd like to say Mr Caine, but he looks like fucking Zeus in that photo, so it has to be the chap above. Great tie/'tache combo.

Took JT up there to show him where the school was the other day and was not let down, there were kids riding a horse and cart round the steet and horses grazing outside the school. I kid you not! xx

And why should they?

Seems to me you dont know what a good teacher is. A good teacher is someone who gets everyone to reach their maximum potential. Your use of the word challenging is ridiculously vague. And a good teacher can only get everyone to reach their maxiumum abilty by not having to deal with the twats who are only their for a doss.

I'm a Teacher. I Teach. School is not "doss time". Why should my lessons be a time when I have to accomodate one or two pupils distracting everyone else. One of the greatest things I've ever seen was when one of the lads in my Year 9 classturned around to the perpetually disruptive and annoying scarf girl and told her to "shut the fuck up now!". Most kids want to learn, yet the constant pandering to those with so called behavioural problems is just bullshit. Pure, unmitigated bullshit.

Its statements like this which are detroying the education system in this country. Nigel Blackwell said it best; "Is your child hyperactive or is he perhaps a twat?"

Once you get to a certain age, Education should be a privilege, not a right. If you've spent your time in school fucking around, being a twat, then thank you and good night. Sadly, it doesnt work like that. In my 6th form classes, there is at least one pupil who shouldnt be there, wastes everyones times and is only there as he scraped four c's at GCSE. One of them was suspended numerous times for just being a twat. He's not going to get any better than an E in his AS this summer, because frankly, he's a waste of space. He might be very capable, but all he does is waste my time, take up a seat and distract the others. Yet we have to keep him in because a) The Head gets a bonus if he has a certain number of pupils on the roll and b) Special Educational Needs have decreed he has "emotional difficulties" and should be kept in to aid his development. Of course, the development of everyone else in the class can go take a running jump.

Spoken like a true twat.

Granted there is a grain of truth that education at a certian age should be a priviledge and not a right... but hating the kid for being a twat is assinine. The kid's a twat because they aren't getting good parenting. Give them a good role model and they can be turned around.

But yer the type of teacher that only wants to teach to the willing... what's the fun in that? They'll learn with an open book without you. The one's that are really worth the time are those that need direction. Granted you can't help all of them, but the one you do can really effect society.

Liam, you should speak to the Union about only allowing nice kids who don't snigger at your lessons in to class. I'm thinking of only dealing with nice people in my day to day work as well. It's so tiresome having to deal with the 'twats'. Perhaps the police, nurses, firemen and any other public servants should join forces with the teachers and demand that from now on they will only be called on to serve the 'nice' people.

I know that in my 10 year career in education, not once did any of the kids in trouble or disruptive receive any higher amount of support and learning than any other child in the classroom behaving. Depending on circumstances, some were worked with on a one-to-one basis, groups or I managed the behavior and issues within the mainstream classroom without disruption to others learning. But it was all equal. They were not treated as 'special' it is just a different approach.

What preposterous nonsense.

So... in ten years not once did any of the kids in trouble or disruptive recieve any higher amount of support, yet some were worked with on a one to one basis. Surely being taught on a one to one basis is more support. So its one or the other, it cant be both.

I teach a Kid in Year 7 who has no major learning difficulties, he's not that bright and thats it. He doesnt come from a broken family, he just comes from the local area, no special schooling or anything like that. He is however,a little shit. He has no manners, doesnt do the work, and actively seeks to disrupt the lesson by trying to wind his teachers up or to wind up his students, and then bemoans the fact that nobody likes him. He gets a TA in all his lessons soley dedicated to him. If thats not special support, I dont know what is.

The truth is, the collapse in school discipline can be linked to the emergence of SEN departments within schools. SEN departments made up of (and usually run by) failed teachers sit there and dictate to teachers how to do things and make excuses (and Graeme, explain and excuse are not mutally exclusive, not by a long shot) for badly behaved pupils. In my experience, as well as near enough everyone I have asked, SEN make teachers jobs nigh on impossible by the promise of rewards for badly behaved pupils.

Look at it like this. Little johnny gets taken out of lessons for being constantly disruptive. Now, normally, this would entail spending a day with the head of year, or outside the heads office. But no, these days it will entail going to the SEN, to talk about it over a cup of tea, before the chance to play XBOX or Playstation, knowing int he future there's a day out of school. Meanwhile, Little johnnys mate Aaron sees johnny missing out on my lesson about the five pillars of Islam to do the fun stuff, solely because he's been taken out of lessons for being disruptive. What kind of message does that give out? Be disruptive, be badly behaved, and you will be rewarded for it.

Hang on, post 16 Education in this coutnry is voluntary, no one is forcing anyone to do anything, so why the fuck should I put up with disruptive cunts in my lesson. And why should the pupils who want to learn, and are prepared to contribute. If you're there, you are there to learn, not to fuck around constantly. When i was in 6th form, we were allowed to do pretty much what we wanted, but we always knew if we fucked around or didnt do the work we were out. And as time went on, and the class got smaller and smaller, the ones that were left were more and more grateful. And when it was made clear by the head of law (incidentally the best teacher I ever had, and now one of my best friends) two days after our first year exam that any fucking around in second year and we were out, everyone knew where they stood and what was expected. The result? Everyone went up at least a grade.

So why should Education be compulsory up to 16? By fifteen or even fourteen everyone knows whats on the line. Having it compulsory just breeds resentment anyway. If they want to get GCSEs' then great. But not at the expense of other pupils. Its the lower sets that matter the most anyway, because you need a C (in reality, no real difference between a C and a A*), yet the shitheads in the lower sets, most of whom are probably capable of getting a C, choose not to, and choose to drag everyone down with them.

So to say everyone does get the same educational opportunities is bullshit. But mainly because of the shitty pupils who want to ruin it for everyone else.

they said im dyslexic, b/cos of me essay writing. they said i have it, bcos they wont say im lazy and should work harder,

i just put the smallest amount of effort into essay to get what i need, if you know what i mean.

there is a distinct lack of balls in education today, there always has to be an excuse, midly dyslexic my arse. i m just fucking lazy.

but dyslexia is real. look at Wendy Hannet, she really struggled with it

Yes, because every child at that age knows what the future holds for them. They fully understand the consequences of their actions just as they're going through puberty. That's right, they're fully mature at that age.

Everybody is a cunt. Some people are just more cunts than others.

Yes, because every child at that age knows what the future holds for them. They fully understand the consequences of their actions just as they're going through puberty. That's right, they're fully mature at that age.

Everybody is a cunt. Some people are just more cunts than others.

Indeed. Just ask Liam. Who has only been teaching for about five minutes but is now apparently a self-appointed authority on all aspects of the education system, its failings, and the failings of da yoof.

I didn't see that coming.

Am I missing something?

There was classes I had as a kid which were quiet as a mouse, others where you could just run riot. That was down to the teacher, and the teacher alone. Some you respected, others you could just basically bully. I appreciate teachers can't just leather kids these days, like in my day, but you should still have some command of the classroom, surely?

Isn't that the art of being a good teacher?

Anyways, what's wrong with fcuking around at school? If anyone here says they never did it, then I am truly fcuking shocked.
