Hatton and Pac is the best fight out there,left..

Nice to see Don King and the politics that have for so long stopped such fights happening,thereby ruining the credibility of boxing as a spectical,are becoming a thing of the past now... The best fighter meeting the next best fighter is how it was in the old days,and how it should be at world level,always...Boxing has started to recognise that now,not before time.

I genuniely did not know it was at light welterweight. Arent there four possible weights that it could take place at?

No doubt its a "top skilled man dance". Its a shame that in terms of money it wont come close to what UFC 100 will do in July, or what UFC 91, 92 or 94 did. And probably wont be as fun to watch either.

I see De la Hoya retired today. I was talking with my mate Rob last night about where all the true greats of Boxing have gone. The most interesting fight boxing has is a fight which is never going to happen, Klitschko versus Klitschko. What else is there? The heavyweight division is on its arse, middleweight (and the surrounding divisions) are as well, the lighter divisions have Hatton (retiring soon), Pacquio... and?

90% of the interesting stories in Boxing these days revolve around comebacks. Evander Holyfield, Riddick Bowe (!), the returns of Joe Calzaghe and Floyd Mayweather. I'm sure that today Oscar De la Hoya got an offer for a comeback fight...

Boxing is dying. So I'll stick with UFC. I've got Silva v Leites and Liddell v Shogun this weekend. Next month, Hughes v Serra, June Wanderlei Silva v Rich Franklin (which i might actually go to, as its in Cologne), July there's Lesnar v Mir, St. Pierre vs Alves... and later in the year Quinton Jackson v Rashad Evans or Lyoto Machida. My TV might very well explode with charisma.

Actually, I'm going to rant some more. Whoever is promoting Hatton v Manny is a FOOL. I saw the 24/7 thing tonight, and what did I see? Ricky fucking Hatton and Manny Pacquio (in one hell of a suit, I must say) being all pally with each other playing darts. WHAT THE FUCK. Did Mike Tyson sell out stadiums world wide by playing Darts with his opponent? Did Muhammad fucking Ali go to the pub with Joe Frazier before the fight? No, did they fuck. Hatton can talk better than anyone in sport today, we all saw that before the Mayweather fight, so what the fuck were they doing showing them being all friendly with each other and talking about Hatton being knocked out? The basic rule of any fight promotion (whether it be pre determined or not) is that two guys dont like each other, people pay to see them fight. And thats why UFC is a bigger sport than boxing is today.

Much of what you say is true about UFC being a growing sport and boxing being a shrinking one...Boxing being a victim of dirty vultures and shark promoters exploiting everything to their own end over recent times,and the various television companies getting their palms greased also.. UFC could easily go the same way,if it does'nt learn from Boxing's detrimental political shite...

However,two men,with two fists..UFC does'nt beat that!

They kick,knee and alsorts of dishonourable nonsense in UFC. Boxing is sport personified.A microism of life,even.

The hit and not get hit aspect...you either get it,or you don't..UFC is fashionable,brutal and sick,in my opinion,so what.. Boxing is fist fighting,skillfull,honourable,with fantastic history and will retain it's place in the civilised world long after the UFC fad. Boxing is the ultimate individual sport and always will be,whatever current popular trend dictates..Come back in 50 years and let's see then...

How is Mixed Martial Arts (wrong to say UFC really) any more sick or brutal than Boxing? The goal is still to knock your opponent out, or make them submit.

Of course, Boxing will survive especially with the biggest heavyweight fight of all time

UFC is a fad, its great today, gone tommorrow... it simply won't last. The main thing it has going for it is shock value, and once its around long enough, the shock value will be gone, and with it the love for the sport.

Boxing on the other hand is simply about two men, fist to fist. Its one of the original sports ever to be devised by man. Totally agree its a microism of life. The symbolism can't be denied, and (as long it isn't a thrown fight), it doesn't matter who the winner knows, what fancy equiptment he has, or background he grew up, the fight is in the man.

also, as for Liam's wimper on two guys have to act like they hate eachother is pathetic. That they can do this with grace and sportsmanship is the complete difference between boxing and WWF.

oh, by the way. I'll be going for Pac, mainly because he's going up in weight, making it more of a challenge for him. He's the underdog, so that's who i usually root for... but it really is difficult as I do like Hatton as well. :\ohwell:
