weirdest post in whole thread & that's saying something!
can understand that people like different things & do not claim to be a joel fan, but to say that everybody that likes him is just pretending to is ridiculous.
Please allow me to explain my ridiculous, flippant remark about Billy Joel. You see, the night previous to my posting, I had been working completely sober at a feverish pace serving Margaritas and shots of Tequila to drunken Cinco de Mayo revelers without a break, drink or even a cigarette for approximately 9 hours. During this time, Joel's "Zanzibar" had come on the sound system approximately 4 times. That's an average of once every two hours. Why Billy Joel was playing while celebrating The Independence Of Mexico, I have no idea. Afterwards, by 3 am, I had nearly drank myself into a stupor, went home and passed out. I know. Stupid, right? Hungover, the next morning, I decided to drink some water and coffee and relax all while "Zanzibar" played on a continuous loop in my head. After reading the title of the thread, "Shit Bands", I had discovered the perfect outlet for me to vent my petty annoyance of Joel's hit, "Zanzibar". After posting, I hadn't thought of the melody or word for several days. After revisiting the thread, I realized how truly ridiculous and bizarre and hasty my posting had been. I realize that Billy Joel is not a "band" and understand why some people may genuinely love his music. I regret taking the earnest title of the thread for granted and posting my irreverent, slap-happy remarks.

i like Joel (early stuff though) and you are right, that song is the shite of the shite.
Note though that Cinco De mayo is not celerated in Mexico, and they don't recognize it as their offical indepedence day, so Joel playing that day really doesn't matter then....

Level 42?!
I like-em a lot ... do ya know that Mark King plays the bass in a very unique way ... just like Peter Hook. That's original to me.
They're back on touring with the original line up and that includes Wally Badarou & Mike Lindup.
The band recently played at The Indigo2 in London and is set to announce more concerts later in 2009.

U2 are a bunch of rip-off cunts! ![]()
Razorlight
The Pogues
The Enemy
The Killers
Simple Minds
UB40
U2
Eminem
Reverend and the makers
Spandau Ballet
Nickelback
Green Day
Anything EMO
thats enough shite music for now.
also any wobbly voice RnB shite.
If a lot of typical American white guys like a band, it usually is pretty much shit in most ways.
...
yea! that's what you all say now but, i bet these 'shit bands' you've listed are in and part of your music collections... ![]()

There's too many...but then again I don't spend my time dwelling over the topic.
Emo, grunge, and hiphop/rap musicians and bands in general come to mind.
Boy bands, emo bands, corny hip-hop (why would I want to hear about pimps, ho's, bling, etc. Public Enemy, Coolio, and Dr. Dre are not corny, imo), anything in the top 40.

I hate Pearl Jam more for their influence then the actual band.
They opened the floodgates for a million copycat bands that all have that same 'banging on bathtub' snare sound and dull, over-earnest macho male singers pretending to be angst-ridden and deep, basically half the shitty american grunge bands of the last 15 years.
Pearl Jam themselves have some amazing early songs, have to admit.

Not wanting to defend Cozzie or anything, but the phrase 'anything in the top 40' would suggest as in NOW.. I.e. not 26 years ago before her birth.
And Pearl Jam are shite. Nickelback should be executed.
Bar the usual suspects (never been into grunge, mainstream pop, "urban", most metal etc) I'd have to single out The Feeling as a band I would readily associate the word "unbearable" with. Their atrocious, FM friendly, soft rock, soppy chorus ridden WANK seemed to follow me around from radio to radio a few years ago. I swear. Never Be Lonely and Love It When You Call are just a couple of their crimes... I could imagine Love It When You Call in particular being piped through the PA of Guantanamo Bay by the CIA with great success. Waterboarding's got nothing on it in terms of effective torture.
I'll add Mika in as a brucie bonus; a preening tosser sporting truly insipid music and on stage theatrics. Someone should really tell him he's not Freddie Mercury but just a curly haired cnut pretending to be Freddie Mercury. Badly. Mind you, he's been nowhere to be seen lately so if you're reading this Mr Mika, keep the sabbatical up ![]()
EDIT (one more!): The Darkness / Justin Hawkins... one massive glam-metal-cliché joke stretched ludicrously thin. On borrowed time the moment they picked up their instruments in some shitty Lowestoft backstreet boozer no doubt. Even most of their fans had enough after an album and a half. Won't be missed.
Hey Edel, hey Burt,
When I said the top 40 in that post, I meant the US Billboard top 40. I certainly did not mean the UK charts (in which the songs on the top 30 would get a chance to play on Top of the Pops).
P.S. So glad that NOOL is back. BTW, it went down on HK's birthday. Karma.
