I'm thinking about joining eMusic again, after all I've found some good stuff, such as studio albums from the Dead Kennedys, Danse Society, Mission of Burma, Cocteau Twins, Echo and the Bunnymen, and The Sound. Finding bands, especially by band labels are hassle, since it takes me time to find which bands are good or not. Can you guys give me labels and bands that you recommend so that I can narrow my searches?

Also, aside from Factory/Warners and 4AD, what other post-punk labels are there?

that's a broad grouping of music you've selected there.... too many to list, narrow it down to sound...

There are an incredible amount of resources on the web, from allmusic.com, wikipedia, youtube, pitchforkmedia.com. I remember searching thru magazines to find a page that had some interesting info years ago.

If you mean old labels, SST was another 80s post punk label, with Husker Du, Minutemen, and Black Flag.

Well, finding music on eMusic depends on the licensing issues. For instance, Dead Kennedys are not part of the original label Alternative Tentacles, but Manifesto records after the band members sued the lead singer and the founder of the label, Jello Biafra. Now, I could get 80s albums like Danse Society, Mission of Burma, and Cocteau Twins. As far as Echo and Bunnymen goes, I could only get albums like Siberia.
