Stumbled across their Birmingham store the other day. They've got some real beauties in there.

Not sure if this one was in there but it's on their website. A bargain at £3,999.99 A Trek Madone 6.9 Double 2008 Road Bike

Or this one at a mere £7,999.99 A Scott Addict LTD CD 2009 Road Bike.

I also noticed they had one or two road bikes with single front forks.Couldn't find one on the website to show here unfortunately. Struck me as quite vulnerable to buckle with all that forward pressure. Still, i'm sure the single fork is extra strengthened to do the job of two front forks. But wouldn't that add more weight which defeats the object of being single forked in the first place?

Being a keen cyclist myself i do like those bikes, however budget and wife don't stretch that far, and it's more important to reduce my own weight rather than a few ounces on a bike (and considerably cheaper too!)

I've seen the single forks you mentioned, I wouldn't trust them myself, probably a passing phase, like to osymmetric (I know that should be asymmetric, but that's the word the pro's use) front cog, which apparently reduces the dead point in the peddle motion, utter bollocks i think and just an excuse for the like of sram to relieve you of a few hundred quid.

Aye i wouldn't feel confident with just a single front fork. How much pressure would that put not only on the fork but also the wheel hub? I can imagine making a sharp turn and the fork and wheel hub giving way like paper. I was gobsmacked someone had come up with the idea. How long have they been around? I'm out of touch with racing cycle advancements since i worked in a cycle shop in the mid 80s

I think the single fork is just a concept thing at the moment, although there are a lot of weird one offs around, in true Jeremy Clarkson style " I was looking on the internet the other day and I found this"

But while searching for that I also found the latest in shopping bikes!

they aren't new, there have been non circular cogs for donkeys years (they defo had them back in the 80's)

would imagine the single fork weighs the same as a double but has better aerodynamic properties. they have had them on motor bikes for ages...

I recall seeing a uniblade fork incorporated with a special hub for BMX right around 1989 developed by Lynn Kastan. I believe turned out to be spectacular failure as was discontinued shortly after it's release. Shimano did the non-circular sproket thing ages ago...

9.5 miles home from work this afternoon in 29 minutes 17 seconds. Reckon i could have done it in 25 if it wasn't for the headwind in places and stoopid car drivers getting in my way. Why isn't there a bicycle smiley?

That's pretty good, when are we having the NOOL TT's?

I need to get some lard off my arse and a fair bit of training, then maybe a TT bike, but no point in a TT bike though when you don't have a TT body!

I should think there isn't a bicycle smiles due to this being New Order Online, not a bike forum!
