Hello everybody! I don't know if this is the right section, but anyway... I'm writing my thesis of my master degree about the transposition from "touching from a distance" to "control". In order to do this, I need to give out a questionnaire to understand what the readers of the book and the audience of the film think about both book and film. Deborah does seem to have a bit of a chip on her shoulder. Granted its probably due to a bad relationship with Ian, and crazed fans bugging her all the time, not allowing her to let go of his ghost, but still, it was a bit jaded. It was a great insight to the person that was Ian, rather than the icon, but I don't take the info as gospel truth. Its just one perspective.

[X] Other (please specify) … Well, it's aesthetically coherent with the visual background of the band, plus the director has a huge experience and an obvious preference for black & white photography, wich seems to resonate his own storytelling, but personally I don't think it is absolutely necessary for the film making.

14) What do you think about Sam Riley as Ian Curtis?

[X] Other (please specify) … His performance is quite impressive, although I thought the dancing thing looked "too rehearsed" and a little mechanical. He's done great in the rest of the scenes, mind.

[X] Other (please specify) ...The Annik character obtained much more attention, wich I think was a successful strategy to bring a little bit of her point of view on the story. But the screenplay is still true to the book.

In an entirely different film he would have been a good character but he didn't really capture the Curtis i'm familiar with.

The book was way more powerful than the film. Although i quite liked the film i was left with a feeling at the end of 'is that it?' The book gave a way more vivid telling of the story.
