Maybe just big in the States? He was an infommercial salesman. Started out with Oxyclean, then with many other products. Before you knew it he was on talk shows, gameshows, and would show up to events. He was litterally everywhere... oh and he had a reality show on Discovery Channel.
He was infamous for promotion of all kinds of stuff...mostly household helpers, tbh.

Most of the time, when I read a RIP somebody on this board, I realise that we are not totally globalised yet. Some are famous in the USA only, others in the UK, most people I never heard of...
That said, I find the year 2009 more deadly than the previous ones. Beginning of July and I have already lost two "celebs" lighthouse keepers of my life at a local scale.
Maybe, also, do I get older and the phenomenon will increase, logically...
