Any discussion of best music video must include "Hurt" by Johnny Cash. I saw the promo pre-release VHS tape shown by a label rep. It brought tears to my eyes.

Here is a good example...

The Thieves Like Us clip is a stone cold, all time classic. Still vividly recall seeing it for the first time on the Play At Home doc, August 1984.Best thing Channel 4 have ever put on. Impossibly beautiful the way long intro suits completely the footage of lorries on some Manchester highway. I think i prefer Manchester of that era from the touristy nonsense it is today.

Pity they edited the live track down from the original 12 minutes . Check out the bootleg.

Saw a Sigur Ros one a few years back for the It's You song. Made a big impression when yer pissed at 3am.

I remember a vid from around 84' that looked like a homemade film by someone driving into Manchester filming from a car with a camera, I'm pretty sure it was real but then it could have been the drugs and booze!

Actually, I like videos that are visually interesting (Bjork & New Order have a few). If it's just a video of somebody standing around singing, I may as well just listen to the CD, without the video. I like the video to give a visual treat to compliment the audio treat of the music. I think of the video as being a piece of art that hopefully compliments the song.
