Shocker - Pretty in pink was the film/album that opened my eyes to New Order, the Smiths and the Psych Furs. Hughes death is more meaningful to me than Michael Jackson certainly

I'll save my tears for David Lynch, another 80s director who got stuck in a rut, but actually made interesting movies.

Hughes made some pretty horrible movies before he "retired". Hughes would never be mentioned in the same breath as Kubrick.... thou I suppose I just did that :shrug:

John Hughes made the best TEEN movies,that were actually bearable,not even taking into account he had a great music taste (British noo wave!). Fave films,Pretty In Pink,Planes Trains & Automobiles,Uncle Buck,Ferris Bueller,and yeah ok the first Home Alone.
