BB No More

I for one am sad about this. I like it and have never had a problem in admitting it. It's got better as the years have gone on as well. Think the viewing figures have been shit though. Shame.

Has this series been any good?

It's the first year I haven't had a clue who's in it.

There's been no outrage in the press like previous years. Are this lot all just a boring bunch then?

This series has been decent if not spectacular. The producers have introduced a few clever twists. Letting them discuss nominations for the first time ever has really changed the dynamic and increased the potential for conflict. Letting them read copies of Heat that contained stories about them while they were still inside was genius and toe-curlingly awkward at the same time.

Sad to report however that the eye candy count has reached an all time low. My interest in this aspect ended as soon as that bammy burd from Fife was booted out. She was quality.

Now that the G-Man has 'fessed up, I'll have to admit that I still like the show and it has been an integral part of my summer for the last nine years. It's infuriating and makes you want to throw stuff at the TV - but this is exactly what makes it so great. No matter what many people would have you believe (say "hello" Cambo!!) it does not signify the end of civilization as we know it.

The current season has been the best for a few years, IMHO.

about time

now if they could just take an axe to the people inside the house & finish it now it'd be perfect.

No loss to me. I've no doubt they'll replace it with more shite.

Whoopee! Common sense has finally prevailed!!!

Now why didn't they realise this years ago instead of allowing this freakshow to further pollute the tv schedules? Having said that 99% of 'reality' shows these days is the same mind numbing moronic crap specifically designed to pander to the brain dead booze-soaked cretins everywhere.

Best thing that should have happened to the BB house is for someone to seal the doors and windows and let loose a pack of wild hyenas onto the various weirdos and self-obsessed nobodies that inhabit the place. What a wasted opportunity eh? ;)

You're just a bunch of vacuous, reactionary fuckers and history will prove me and Graeme right. It'll be like "Smash Hits": dismissed by cunts as being trash for braindead teenagers, but when it's gone it'll be hailed as irreverent genius.

Mark my fucking words.

I'll cite Gallileo to back up your point Fradders.

He too was mercilessly derided in his time, yet with hindsight no one is laughing now:nono:

Same same,but different.

However,BB is/was pap on a plate, and not something in the summer I'd wanna integrate.

This is joyous news from my perspective. One less telly fight with the daughter.:thumb:

Total girls telly.

Like most of the best things in life, Big Brother's pleasures were fleeting and simple. Below is the initial evidence, M'lud.

Naturally, there's more where that came from.

It's being axed after the NEXT series!

So let's get this right - the next season will get a ratings boost by being the 'last ever' and then they'll decide to run it again.

There'll be schleb ones too. You'll see

Another false dawn then.

For.Fucks.Sake.

And whatever it is,it aint 'season' Biggles. No sireee. It aint Spring,Summer,Autumn,Winter or any sporting programme, ergo it's a 'series'

Has to be,no?

Curse it anyhow.

There is something amiss when we get only 6 episodes of'Fawlty Towers'to last us a lifetime, yet 10 squillion installments of Big scruffy wank, with no light at the end of the tunnel, shirley?

I strongly disapprove of this latest development. There,I've said it,it's out there now nestling in the undercurrent...

In the interests of open debate, can I just point out that in our glorious digital age there are a large number of televisual alternatives to choose from, meaning that YOU DON'T HAVE TO WATCH IT, YOU GORMLESS FUCKINGS CUNTS.

Like teenage Catholics enjoying a furtive wank and feeling guilty about it afterwards, I know you all fucking watch it and hate yourselves for it.

I don't watch any TV except football.

Say what you like, you've got the mental agility to watch it while hating it. Most people are not as clever as you, so it just seeps into their brains, and now more people know who Jade Goody was than Alan Turing or Time Berners Lee, which I must confess amuses me on the internet, but it scares me witless too.

Hopefully the demise of this will herald the end of the whole vile genre. But sadly this world is not as logical as that, it'll just make way for something MUCH worse.

Quick points before I get back to tonight's episode of "Big Brother":

  1. Boaty is right, Steve: I don't hate it. I said it makes me want to throw things at the TV - this is excellent 'cos most TV just makes me drift into a rapturous daydream about collecting tins of economy baked beans. It's a personality contest and, by definition - and as in life - some personalities should drive you mad.

  2. BOATY: phonetically, Sid James' laugh is "AHHH RA! RA! RA! RA! RA! RA!"

"AG! AG! AG! AG! AG! AG! AG!" - that's fucking Popeye, mate.

Sort it out.

I did watch it a fair bit at times. The gaggle of office girls at the place i used to work would drive me mad though by relentlessly spending every frickin breaktime in the canteen going on about the previous night's viewing and who was going down to the see the coming Friday's eviction.

So yeah, in summary: Big Brother the programme: Entertaining and at times hilarious.

Big Brother The fans who waffle on about it at breaktime in the canteen: - infinitely more annoying than any housemate ever.

I lounge corrected.

I on the other hand cannot stomach infuriating televisual entertainments in any form. I intensely dislike "comedy" purely based on the utter stupidity of the protagonists. I wince when I hear poor statements of "science" too, like saying how much "power" something uses in a year. I prefer my television informative or at least engaging. I agree that our minds require infuriation to function correctly, but I find more than enough of that in the real live humanity that surrounds me, I mean you can't say a meeting with management types doesn't leave you angry, confused and in despair at the human condition.

As an example, the last things to grace my screen.

Some episodes of the original Twilight Zone series, the first of many. Coverage of last week's Ulster Grand Prix. Several episodes of Timewatch on numerous subjects such as WWI and II, engineering and ancient Russian depots. The European Grand Prix. Coast Rick Stein's Far Eastern thingy. A documentary on Mallard's world record speed run. A modern re-hash clip show about Spitting Image.

As you can see, an evening round the Tardis is right fuckin riveting.

EDIT: Johnny makes a good point, it's people wanking over it all day that's the truly mass murder inducing thing rather than just some inbreeds on camera.
