Alright, I'm bored, so let's stat a new thread.
What's the best cartoon of your childhood? I doubt it's the same, since for obvious reasons, the cartoon shown here are not the same.
As for example, I grew up watching Goldorak and Albator, two japanese cartoons, I don't know if they had the same name in english (Albator for sure, I saw the english name, anyway, he's a space pirate!)
Looney Tunes were funny, but you didn't need to see all episodes, so it's not exactly the same.
best? so not fair. you have the whole tex avery canon then theres henrys cat, mr ben, whacky races, catch the pidgeon, dangermouse, count duckula etc then for younger people the simpsons etc
Rocket Robin Hood (best theme tune ever, all about a band of brothers marching together)
or Sport Billy (and the ubiquitous omni sack)
Jamie and his magic torch...loved that, everytime i drive down a multi storey car park with a "helter skelter" exit i sing along!!! (just ask Kez and Annie!!)
I also totally loved the mini series ones, like 80 days around the world (Willy Fogg) and Cities of Gold, not to mention Battle of the planets....
Sigh... I can't beleive i'm gonna be 27 next week, i wanna be 5 again, life was easy then!!!

I was a HUGE Transformers fan. I began collecting the figures when I was 11 or 12, and then continues until I was something like 14 (but was too shy to admit!), and had an extensive Marvel comics collection (which I sold about 3 years ago to a comics store in DENVER, Colorado -- wow!).
Optimus Prime was my hero (I wish I had a voice like that), but somehow I preferred Megatron! But my all-time favorite Transformer always was Soundwave, which incidentally was the first figure I got. I think Soundwave was a secret member of Kraftwerk. 
Shockwave, the Constructicons, the Dinobots and the Insecticons were also VERY cool. 
Did you see the "Transformers: The Movie" ? That was a shock for me, as the Transformers always had a touch of humor in it before, but the movie was quite violent and involved the deaths of several loved caracters, including both Prime and Megatron (which became Galvatron). I still have the soundtrack LP of that movie! :D
I think the Hasbro company probably made focus groups after that which might explain why they managed to bring Optimus Prime back later on.

Loonie Tunes and Tex Avery's are still my favourites to this day and I will happily sit down to cheer Wile E. Coyote (Don't we all hate the Roadrunner? I do.)
Apart from that: Japanese Anime with two clear favourites: early Dragonball and Ranma 1/2 with very sexy undertones.

I use to collect transformers as well. Right now I wish I didn't sell them off for 50 cent each. I could have mad more money off of them these days.
I did see the movie, that was one of my highlight of my childhood at the time. I was so shocked seeing some of my favorite charecters getting killed off at the beginning, and that one scene, I can vaguely remember, where one of the autobots, maybe Prime, was cornered by a mountain, something was stuck, and he blurted out "damn it," or somthing like that. definately not the Transformer we saw on TV at the time. I hate to admit this, but I kinda gotten into the newer computer animated series. I was surprised how dark and complex the storylines were for a kid show.

Wait Till Your Father Gets Home is probably one of the lesser-known Hanna-Barbera productions (unless you remember it of course). Meet the Boyle family who live at 35 Elm Street.
Harry Boyle is the father of the family, who struggles his way though life supporting his family with a “why was I put on this planet attitude”. Pretty much your average worrying, old-fashioned father who constantly does battle with their “free thinking” kids really.
Irma is his wife who tries to put a bit of perspective in Harry’s life, permanently trying to convince him that everything isn’t as bad as it seems. Between them, they have three children.
The eldest is Chet, a 22 year-old college drop out who just sponges off the family, and doesn’t really have two braincells to rub together. He has a motorcycle, but not a job. Attempting to “find himself”, surfing, and postponing any direction for as long as possible are his main past times.
Alice is the eldest daughter, and the largest. She’s a 16 year-old romantic radical who only has one obsession in life, food. Trouble is that her life revolves around trying to lose weight.
And finally, there is the 9 year-old son, Jamie who always up for making a quick buck.
Their next-door neighbour is Ralph who probably invented the phrase “conspiracy theory”. He is convinced that everyone is a communist. 
This one is going in my favourites folder next to morocco mole and the Hitachi Liverpool kit.

Goldorak, aka Grandizer, was also my favourite cartoon. If only it was released in DVD (or even in VHS)...

No, seriously: Growing up, I used to love GI Joe, the Adventures of He-Man (nevermind the terrible flick), and Transformers. Other stuff I watched included the Smurfs and Scooby Doo, though those haven't really had much staying power. And of course the entire Loony Tunes canon, Bugs and Daffy are heroes of mine.
My absolute fave, however, has to be Donald Duck. Anyone remember the one where he gets home late at night and is trying to go to sleep, but various things keep happening and get magnified in his mind (like a faucet dripping and curtains going up)? Everytime I can't get to sleep, I think about that particular cartoon....
he-man, she-ra, cities of gold, g-force, dungeons and dragons all passed the time, but duckula and danger mouse have to be my faves.
by the way, i remember wait 'till your father gets home but can't remember whether i liked it. i'll watch owt that's on telly whether i like it or not ...
okay...well...the only thing I ever raced home to see was a cartoon series called, if I remember correctly, was Starblazers...it was actually one of those Japanese things with English voices dubbed in...you had Derek Wildstar flying all over the place in the battleship Yamamoto trying to save Earth from the evil, oh what was his name....Deslok???
my next favorite would have been the one and only SpeedRacer....he's a demon on wheels...

I really used to love that series as well -- it even brought me to buy my first books in english (which I never completed reading because I couldn't understand half of them, but that's another story).
And, yes, I also was a huge Goldorak fan when I was a younger kid, and also used to watch G.I. Joe (and still remember my surprised reaction when Cobra Commander was killed in the movie and replaced by Serpentor, and then came back in a more powerful form -- aaaaaah, fiction...).
And how could I forget Voltron? God, that was one I was obsessed with. Anyone remember the little magazines where you had to put stickers in to see what was going on (i.e. "Voltron comes together" with the sticker showing, well, Voltron coming together)? I used to spend lots of money looking for those stickers. Geez, memories......

Shit Tabsy, I swear sometimes that you're my long lost brother. I remember saving my allowance for about 6 months so I could get some gigantic Voltron robot toy, then I could connect all the little Voltron robots together to form this gigantic mother freaking Voltron thing. Or maybe I'm thinking of the wrong thing...Voltron was the cartoon with the cat robots right? And when things got tough, they all came together to form the big robot right? Tell me if I'm wrong.

Albator was called Space Pirate Captain Harlock, Herlock, Raymar in other countries.
I bought the full DVD set last year..

As for Goldorak, it was never released in DVD, but I have the full collection in VCDs!

Also, I have an older sister, so I watched a few girls cartoon pretty too often, like Candy..

Yeah, you're thinking the right thing, Voltron was the cat robots that all came together to for the giant warrior (now that I think about it, the Voltron people could sue Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, unless of course they're owned by the same company). I had the same robot, it was all metal and such. The yellow cat that was supposed to be one of the feet would never stay on after a while, though, so mine had to hop around one-legged on the GI Joe Super Aircraft Carrier (I was big on integrating all my toys into one gigantic battle. I was such a lonely boy). Ah, memories.....

OK, so it's not an official release. I was puzzled, cos I read that the series had been released in VCD in japanese only. I'll try to find it on the internet, but it seems to be difficult. How is the quality? And what is eDonkey?

For the Japanese anime fans, how about: Star Blazers and G-Force.
Remember in Star Blazers fighting the Gamalons and always winning at the last minute with the "wave motion gun" and then shaking with fright when you learned that the WMG didn't work against the Comet Empire?
G-Force was way cool with the Phoenix and all the cool machines that each character drove/flew.
Any and all Warner Bros. offerings. Buggs Bunny is the king of all cartoon characters, hands down (IMHO :) )

Side note: A local radio talk host (Russ Martin - KEGL- 97.1) had a Mach 5 built on a Corvette chassis. It looked very cool.

when i was a kid i wasn't really into cartoons. i still don't care for them that much! however, i did watch the jetsons (my favourite), the flintstones, the smurfs (sometimes), and scooby doo. and, of course, looney toons.
don't know why, just never got into cartoons as much as my friends did. i did go through a short-lived WWF wrestling phase in kindergarten, though! 
Yeah, I went through a short WWF phase when I was 10. Mostly, it was because I was because I wanted to be like my cool older brother.
Thank God that phase didn't last long.
Teenage Mutant Ninga Turtles was probably the last cool kids cartoon. Look at the crap they have now. Pokemon? :\puke:

I have two sets of favorite cartoons, actually three.
In the mornings and I cant beleive no ones mentioned him...
INSPECTOR GADGET Essential to getting ready for school. To see that computerized book Penny used to carry and Brains little collar/walkie talkie. Fav episode is when he goes to Holland.
IN the afteroons, around age 8, GI Joe Transformers He-Man, Mask, Robotech. ALso liked Silverhawks, Thundercats.
ON Saturdays, Looney Tunes for sure, or as it has been renamed many times over, The Bugs Bunny and Tweety Show, The Bugs Bunny and Road Runner Show.... Also Dungeons and Dragons, the Superfriends (with the Legion of Doom!!) Voltron.
Later, in HS heehee, you had to watch the entire Disney afternoon....Rescue Rangers, Ducktales, then later Tailspin and Darkwing Duck. And as I much as I loved the Transformers, Robotech has and will always kick all other robots butts. The Veritech fighter and SDF-1 are still the coolest machines ever drawn. I have about 20 episodes on DVD.
Don't really get to watch too many cartoons anymore, but I try to make time for Simpsons, the Critic, and Looney Tunes because Bugs Bunny is GOD!!!! (well not really but I like him alot)
ps wasnt it always funny how Voltron would chop the hell out of the giant bad guys at the end of each episode?? Anyone remember when one of the main bad guys volunteered to be giant-sized and Voltron killed him anyways?? btw I hated the chick who had the cheesy pink lion. Gimmmmmme a breeaaaaaaak..... 
By the way, great thread one of the best ever I just love reliving my childhood so I can be reminded of how simple things used to be. Speaking of childhood, did any of you used to be the kind of kids that would not take a bath for like 3 days at a time and eat dirt?? My parents never let us do that, but I used to have friends like that and well, lets just say when they would spend the night, they got to sleep on the floor.

Man, this is the South.....OF COURSE we had kids who never bathed or washed after themselves! They're called rednecks....
Personnally, I still cringe when I think how many years i went by with greasy hair, simply because I didn't have the good sense to wash it in the morning before school. I would always shower at night, neglecting the fact that my hair would be shitty in the morning. Senior year I finally realized where the problem was and rectified it. Ah, memories...

Do you know what sucks most about my childhood? We weren't exactly rich, in fact I don't even think we were middle-class for most of the time I was a kid. Because of this, I often had to wear my older brothers and cousins old clothes. Like stone washed jeans, black jeans, that sort of thing. I was on the fringe of the popular group for about the course of 6th grade (accepted into their world), then puberty hit and suddenly I'm persona non grata. Life's a bitch, but it helped me to realize just how shallow and superfical popular people are.
So anyway, I got me some dope Hilfiger threads today......
The best cartoon i can remember was "The Mysterious Cities of Gold". It had amazing title music.

I always liked all the Garfield holiday shows. Great comic strip too, my fav. Everybody like Odie of course, but I also always like Irma, his gap-toothed girlfriend. Jon was a dumbass. hmm, how sad, I am only a fat orange cat and stupid dog away from being Jon.

I tuned into the Cartoon Network acouple nights ago and saw some updates to some of my favorite cartoons when I was kid. The was a new He-man masters of the universe and a new Transformer series.
Did any of you all see these yet? what did you think?
Seen the new Transformers. Its too japanimation like for me, with these little kids helping them out. WHen I was growing up, the Optimus Prime I knew needed help from no one!! Haven't seen the new He-Man yet....

I watched kids TV last Saturday for the first time in about 25 years. Recess ? What's that all about then ? Quite good compared to the Cramps or whatever they're called.
I was a bit disappointed with the transformers cartoon also. What's up with the kids anyway? I think the most disapointing thing about the new series is that Megatron transforms into a tank now.
Dangermouse was a Cosgrove-Hall production. And we all know who used to work at Cosgrove-Hall, don't we children?
