I went for London believe it or not. EMS were somewhere round there, and EMS were far more important tban any band.

in that case, then why not oxford, for the OSCar synth, not as powerful but a hell of a lot more affordable.

I was thinking of the VCS3 (or rather the VCS3 derivative) used on On The Run, which surely is one of the first synth pieces rock luddites ever accepted.

Hull is a different kind of shit hole, Milton Keynes just doesn't seem British, it seems a bit devoid of character and a bit teutonic, no offense to Germans, it just doesn't seem right in old blighty.
Since Sumner and Marr were both born in Mankyland, I'll have to say that Manchester was most important in the development of Electronic's music...

I dont know which city theyre from but Nik Kershaw, Howard Jones, Landscape and Thompson Twins were electronic pioneers. You can hear their influence on every song you hear nowadays.

Soma for sure. They've put Glasgow on the global stage with some of the most important releases in electronic music since the mid 90's (including afformentioned debut Daft Punk release). Solemusic/Tronicsole Records also worth mentioning, especially Milton Jackson. In terms of homegrown artists seek out
Funk D'Void Milton Jackson Slam Silicone Sole
These four are big players internationally but there's also a very healthy grass-roots scene. And the Sub Club was the UK's highest entry (somewhere in the Top 10) in Resident Advisor's Top 100 clubs in the world.
