I'm getting quite melancholy about this now.
Emailed a couple of mates who I don't see much of anymore about this earlier, and all been swapping our stories about old Flaaared Up gigs, obviously thinking we'd all forgotten about them, but quite shocked to see the memories we've all retained. Particular one was the Fridge in 91 when Pixies played the Academy same night ... so we were all drinking in the Prince of Wales, and half of us did Pixies, the other half did Flaaared Up. A mate of mine who know lives in Munich attempted his one and only stage dive of his life during said gig, and the audience parted as he jumped from the stage so he smacked himself hard on the floor. I don't remember it, but it's stuck with him forever, which was nice. I was one of the cunts who parted, natch.
Also Glastonbury 92 when they came on at 2pm and did a 20-min Weekender and no one appeared to know who they were.
And Liam also tried to pull my ex outside Tufnell Park Dome about four years ago, despite her being a foot taller than him. And me being with her.
"Weekender fuck off! Fuck off and die." They don't make lyrics like that anymore!
RIP.
