Finally gives a kind of explination as to the story line, but still looks pretty shit and cheesy. i'm a mug for technology though i'll still go to an imax to see it in 3-D

Well I think it looks nice talking of the FX, but I'm not into those pathos movies with "bad guy turns to understanding good guy on the other side". We'll show that in 3-D at my working place and I suppose it will become THE x-mas adventure for almost the whole family (not for the small ones I suppose). Which means a lot of work for me and my colleagues :\ohwell: .

I hope/presume the dated looking CGI works way better in the cinema than on youtoob. Looks like some crappy kids console game

I keep seeing trailers of this, and it looks like a fucking Muppets/Fraggle Rock/Never-ending Story wank movie with shit loads of CGI, and no bloody Limahl.

Someone please watch the damn thing (the most expensive movie in history??) and tell me I'm wrong.

Cheers..

Burt.

I've just got back from "Where the Wild Things Are". I'd forget "Avatar" and go and see this instead.

Would make a perfect double-bill with "Let the Right One In". Just perfect.

That's exactly what I expect. But I suppose I won't watch it anyway. Even if it's in 4D or 5D.

If you didn't know it was for a movie you would almost think that ad was for a dorky video game.

Video games try to imitate the movie experience, but Cameron thought he would make a movie of the video game experience?

Unless this is really big with the kids or the trailer is deliberately editing out aspects of the story to make it seem just a simple cliched action/ adventure fantasy (they of course will dumb down trailers for the masses), it seems like a potential to be labeled a bust.

Aye, Let The Right One In is a good film

That recent South Park - "Dances With Smurfs" - was supposed to be a dig at Avatar, wasn't it?

They said so on BBC Breakfast so it must be true.

What a fucking amazing film! Took Jonny to see it at IMAX,which is the best place to watch it first. It's the first time I've seen 3D used to transport you into a film rather than just throw random stuff at you. Critics are gonna pull this apart for the blatancy of trying to replace actors. It's bollocks,expressions,emotions..every little tick is up there, because they're still driven by actors. So the NA'VI are basically actors' Avatars.Think of Gollom....but 7 ft tall! You actually forget ater a few minutes that they're not real. The way they move, the way light reflects on them No expense spared. From the opening shots of paraplegic Jake floating around in zero G,to the gunships,to PANDORA. Pandora is joy to behold, the floating "mountains" (what's that all about),to the glowing fauna. So when the bulldozers come in,let's say it's very easy to side with the natives. Sigourney Weaver's there, plus Michelle Rodriguez. Can't say a fave moment, there's too many, couple of pastiches in there,a good APOCALYPSE NOW shot of the general drinking coffee while firing on The Tree Of Life, a definite DANCES WITH WOLVES vibe, plus a reversal of the great ALIENS beast vs Powerloader "Come and have a pop at Daddy". Oh yeah the big battle! It's up there with the big LOTR Return of the KIng battle, aerial assault, mounted troops on six legged creatures, bow and arrows against powerloaders. Right I'll shut up now.

Saw Superman 3D at an IMAX and swore never to see another movie there. Did they have you take on and off the glasses like they did for Superman? Were there also close ups of the actors where you felt more like a fly on a nose rather than watching a movie (couldn't get into a movie where a head is 40 feet tall)?

I went to see it last night..the effects and 3D was great but it was so long...

No I saw SUPERMAN RETURNS at IMAX and a liitle "glasses" IKON came on at bottom of screen,to say when it was 3D. This was ALL 3D; and apart from one bit where Jake's running with his "new legs" and soil's thrown up in your face, the 3D actually complements the film, rather than be an excuse to throw stuff at you. It's gives a feel of immersion into the film, like the bit where he's met Neyriri his first Na'vi contact, and they're running along this huge tree branch, and either side of this branch there's an x-hundred foot drop. The PANDORA wildlife is something to behold, you'd expect a voiceover by David Attenborough, but all the creatures, big and small are just in the imagination of Cameron/WETA. His attention to detail spot on,whether it be mechanical,or the look on Jake's face after he has to come out of his Avatar back into his crippled body.

Lat IMAX film I witnessed was the Golden Compass, that film has turned me off the experience forever. More like the Golden plotless tbh. But Avatar is promising in a world of crap films, such as "Sherlock Holmes", what drivel.

Having said that, I'm going to see it next week. I just need to decide wether on 3D or on the more traditional 2D...
