My tooth broke and beings as tho I was made redundant in July I've not got dental insurance. The pain is keeping me up at 2 AM. I was rinsing with Gin which worked but I only have beefeater which is quite costly so I bought some numbing gel for 5 bux that works but only for 20 mins at a time and I might be poisoning myself.

What would you do in this situation? (nb I really don't care but no one is up at this time in the US and y'all should be getting to work soon enough :P)

Oil of cloves. Tastes like shite,but it'll numb your toof in double quick time.

The reason the gin works is that the alcohol kills off any bacteria for a short time, it's the same with various things recommended.

Swishing warm saltwater around your tooth does the same job but lasts a bit longer.

Boil some water add loads of salt, stir til dissolved, add cold water, try to keep it round the tooth for 5 mins before you spit it out, if it doesn't help add more salt to it til it does.

This also means you can keep the gin for drinking properly rather than swallowing it warm

Smearing a blob of sensitive toothpaste after swilling can also help to lessen the pain.

Ideally get hold of some temporary dental filling stuff, then after swilling, dry tooth with tissue, apply gunk to tooth, it will seal it temporally to stop anymore bacteria getting in, and should last long enough for you to get some sleep.

then it's just a case of repeating all of the above until you can get it fixed properly.
