That's excellent, I really like Delphic, saw them on channel M doing a live set a few months ago, they're were great, must get round to seeing them in the flesh.
Ooh, a friend who lives in Oxford just e-mailed a few Delphic tracks to me - LOVE what I've heard so far! Riton has done a good remix of Doubt.

they've got at least a couple of gigs coming up in manchester this month, i think. supporting doves?

I feel a bit bad being in the pub for four Orbital support slots. I did get the last thirty seconds of one track on one occasion, and yes, they were great for half a minute.

counterpoint being the best track.
wonder if they've heard of New Order
i'm agree, Delphic is an amazing band. i like too much the tune called Counterpoint, it's an avant-garde song....one of the best of the year 
Loved everything by this band so far. Counterpoint is an exceptional tune. Can't wait to see them support Doves later on this month.
Thought it might be worth posting a few tracks, save people searching, seeing as were a lazy bunch of gits!
doubt was single of week on the stuart marc and mark radcliffe show last week.marconi and radcliffe said last 30 seconds of song is pure new order !!
they are indeed doves support at manc central gig 
they might have a new order thing going on there but surely some bloc party type thing as well which might well scare a few people off this board a bit 
Just got the album.
Its the kind of thing I wish new order were doing.

Agree with the general tone of this thread - it's pretty fabulous. They're not kidding anyone with the denials about New Order's influence - it's fucking transparent on at least half the tracks! The band they remind me of most, though, is Friendly Fires. I have a sneaking suspicion that, like that combo's long player, I'll be bored of this record in a few months.

Well, no, they're not - especially if you're over the age of 25. But good tunes nevertheless, IMHO. On another point, one might easily argue that Mr Pierce was hardly "pushing forward" with (the massively overrated) Laydeez and Gentlemen... given that Spiritualized is effectively an endless (if often wondrous) refining of the basic smack 'n' soul template he was working on in Spacemen 3.

In that album I can hear influences from new order, friendly fires, bloc party, klaxons and one of the tracks sounds oddly like a lost duran duran song ...

Can't see the NO influence all the journos keep going on about. I can hear some Underworld and Orbital in there more. Even some Hot Chip.
Over six months ago they put up something on facebook about the day they met Bernard for the the first time with pics, describing him as a 'God', so I'm sure there's something there. And I spose they are from the same town.
I was disappointed after getting the album yesterday (cos I'd heard half the tracks already), but it's been played to death whilst driving like a c___ in Hampshire all day, and it's a grower.
It surprises me that the guitars aren't brought up more in the mix; I've heard they are pretty useful live, so perhaps they rock out a bit more onstage. The drummer is impressive.

Agree with all those reference points (and Major T's); on some I can hear the best of classic mid-80s House classics as well - no little kudos there, then.
It sounds great but, like I say, I suspect that by Spring I'll be bored. But pop is all about ephemeral thrills, right?

It certainly is.
It seems a really odd time of the year to release an album like this. It's an ideal summer album for bombing down the lanes in rural Surrey and getting disgusted looks from the landed gentry. Instead they release it during the worst shite weather and economic time in memory. Playing 'Counterpoint' while stuck behind a fucking snow plough just doesn't feel right. Surely it's time for a new Doves album?

Wish there was a bit more grit in the sound. The whole album sounds too polished, mainly with the drum machine beat and the guitars... the producer could have gotten such a better raw sound. Think a live album of this would probably be perfect.
Still love the album, and love the NO sounds that aren't blatant ripoffs, rather sounds like Delphic took it and made it their own.
I know it's only January and all, but this a strong contender for Album of the Year. It's that good!
NO Doubt...bought this when in Manchester on Saturday.Along with about 8 DVDs Diggy Mike has sent me today i think i am in MUSIC OVERLOAD.The album sounds great whilst washing the grit from the FLAGS outside.Gotta keep FAULTless Towers clean.

shame as doubt & counterpoint were stonking singles
ranking delphic behind spoon, massive attack, the retribution gospel choir (a low spin off band - a bit like the great destroyer this one) & los campesinos! for 2010 albums at the mo
I got the album in the mail today.
It's really nice and new-orderish. Much better than that sh...tuff from the awful last Editors album.
