No, Lennon did. He wanted the Rolling Stones' former manager as his legal representation whereas the other didn't trust him and said no. Lennon left, but didn't announce it publicly, so McCartney went off to do a solo album.

Yup. It was Lennon. Never liked the bugger.

Mind you, SIX shots and NOT ONE hit Yoko? :banghead:

To be fair, I think that Lennon/McCartney were once good songwriters, but their performances were abysmal.

Combine their songwriting with other people's performances and things don't seem so bad.

Maybe not the cause of the split, but Harrison was the first to say he wanted to leave, while on their 1965 American tour he said he couldn't see the point in being in the band if they couldn't hear the music and said he wanted to leave, ringo had a spat and left for a couple of days in 68, Harrison did similar and left for a while in 69, lennon had a row with paul and said he wanted a divorce, mccartney never said he wanted to leave, but then got fed up of waiting for lennon to confirm the split and released a solo album.

Have to disagree with you on that Chris... their performances are as much a part of the songs as the writing as it's the style, timing, and dynamics that bring them to life.

Disagreements within a band? Unheard of!
