Its not just him, there was a Democrat Senator on Anderson Cooper last night that was spewing out some pointless drivel as well.
I think its people that never had any (or seen any real upclose and personal) bad times that lead to chaotic (or near chaotic) surroundings.
Many of those in high positions have never seen this stuff, and it really begins to show when times like this happen, how privileged they really are.

Anyway, as crap as these people are, I was astonished by the Haitian Government's initial reaction to aid.
It was, "Send the planes back, there's too much activity over our airspace."
Fair enough it would seem, if that were true, however, the countries offering aid were well-enough coordinated to be able to deliver without causing more chaos.
The only good thing to come out of this is that foreign powers are showing willing to help out.
The Haitian Government are being idiots while their people suffer. Another example of a Government's bureaucracy and incompetence being put before the people they "govern."
Before certain people wheel out the usual tired, inaccurate, "Chris is a lefty/Commie" drivel that usually follows, I'd tar the British and US governments with the same brush most of the time. As for the African nations...

one problem with what you said though Chris, Haiti doesn't really have a real government... its more a shadow that resembles a government. Haiti is a shithole, has been for quite sometime. So comparing it to other country governments (Britain per se), is simply not correct. Its not bureaucratic red tape that Haiti has a problem with... its a lack of any real government or infrastructure.
and they turned away aid because the airport is small, the control tower was destroyed (so pilots have to fly in blind), and there isn't any infrastructure to support that many planes at one time.

Though I agree with the original subject, I found this a thoughtful counterpoint. "If anything, the idea of Gaia punishing us is even more backward than the idea of God punishing us."
Pat Robertson does this every few years, takes the opportunity to make the news with some hate filled illogical comment on a current event (of course, he is christian so it makes it all right)... then he gets attention and gets more old white people to send him money. He's a Troll.

That was Friday, old news. Troops are now in Haiti, quite a bit now, so security forces are able to protect doctors from any uprisings (which were starting to occur more frequently Friday).

and somehow the failure to help the Haitians in adequate time will somehow fall on the US lap as well, instead of the Haitian government or the UN
No amount of aid or technology will help Haiti. The mentality of that type of society operates entirely for short term gain. They can never emulate Japan like they did post Kobe.
