and I still haven't gotten a band started up or joined an existing group. Oy, this vexs me greatly....
Has anyone else been inspired to try and start up a band recently? If so, how successful have you been? Also, do you have room for a guy who can't sing or play?

Oh yes I tried to start a band! It was to be called ICB, I would be the singer/bass player, my cousin the guitar/keyboard man and... no one else, we never got to the "let's find a drummer" part. The reason? My dad never gave me the money to buy the equipment (he said I had lost my marbles- in a very rude portuguese). That happened in... 1981! I still can't play a note, though! Oh, our influences, you ask? Well, a certain Mancunian band...
I've been wanting to start a band for so long, Tabsy. My friend and I tried to get something going, but he is really into jazz. (And I'm really not.) Anyway, so that went nowhere. I can play keyboards, and I can sing a bit. Once in a while I'll look at the local used record store's bulletin board for stuff, but all that I usually see is, "local punk-rap-emo band looking for second guitarist. Our influences are Limp Biskit, Lynard Skynard, Phish, and White Snake." So, needless to say, I don't think the sound I'm into is what the locals are into.
