If you are blind and you actually have a PC....you have a SCREEN READER...the message would be read out by it, you then respond with the appropriate keystrokes. Surely even WINDOWS has such things in this day and age?
(the thing I find oddest is the name of the software "freecorder"....suggesting it's some kind of PVR package.
Good luck to whoever tries it though....TV cards of ANY kind in windows are just TORTURE. (My current one, refuses to exist in XP, and while it exists in both vista and 7, basically doesn't work, if you can get a channel at all, it'll keel over the next time you change it....or just slow down and die after ten mins on same channel. In linux I had to jump through a few hoops, but the card is faultless now, perfect picture, perfect reliability, no crashes ever, and all unscrambled channels are available (even all the red button ones).

From the first few words of that Steve I had a feeling "but then I set it up in Linux and it worked flawlessly" was coming at the end. Glad you didn't disappoint 
From my own experience, I use a Hauppauge PCI-E TV card in my machine and using Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit I've not had one issue with it. Even the beta drivers I used on the Release Client last year were stable as anything and they had good forums for support questions.
Like or loathe Windows, the Media Centre they included on 7 is a pretty nice application along with the wee remote. I would have it on my big telly over it's built-in "guide" any day but I can't be arsed building a dedicated PC for it.
