Taxing cider???? A more blatant attack on the homosexual/soft southerner communities I have yet to see. Someone should get Stonewall mobilised.

How much on a pint of Stella? Paid £3.40 the other week in fucking Hull!

Stella in my local went up to £3.45 2 weeks ago, now another 5p on top, ridiculous.. May as well be in Landan. My 3 pints for a tenner post work days are no more.

a) that was what the torys wanted to do, not what happened. what happened was 10% over inflation on all cider.

b) if 7.5% is weak, then fair enough, only have to drink the shit stuff when in london/ manchester where all you have is mankners or wrongbow

unless go to a weatherspoons where they do proper westons organic, 6% still stuff.

fact is the cider producers are british unlike the chemical production companies that make that fizzy shite called lager, & this will threaten some of the smaller makers

so it's not 5p a pint, it's 13% extra, almost 40p on a £3 pint way to go darling.

Ha Al's account been hacked By Mel Gibson? I await drunken rantings about "the Jews" before too long....

Following on from G's point, pubs in Hull are disproportionately expensive given the that the town is a fucking hell-hole. I can't be the only one one who suspects that this might be an exploitative move by the city's landlords given the post-Tangoman mood of depression sweeping the city....

As for cider......pffft. Most of us left that shit behind on the park bench when we were 14, along with bragging to your mates about having copped a feel on some lass's tits. (Obviously, the next more mature stage was to brag that you'd fingered her). I guess they do things different in Somerset, eh?

Fradders, dont forget Hull was twinned with similar tango towns like Stoke n Darlo ! Wonder if they had white dog shite near partly decomposed jazz mags in sumurset

i started on lager fradders, grew out of that as wanted some flavour, went to bitter but that got me bloated too quickly, so switched to cider one sunny day on the terraces. no bloatedness & no hangover the next morning. sorted.

doubt you were on the proper stuff at 14, especially where you live most likely to have been woodpecker or some other mass produced shite

i realise that mentioning a brand whose name is solely comprised of the words wood & pecker is likely to prompt a certain kind of response from you. knock yourself (one) out.

I think we were probably on the local supermarket's low-rent white-label economy version of "Diamond White", Dave. Forget the quality; feel the ABV.

I'm surprised you rose to the bait, to be honest: much more sensible to lean back with your jar of Taunton Old Scrote, relax, and let the rest of us plebs get back to our flavourless fizzy piss.

Taunton Old Scrote??? It's Dungfeather's Beardy Pecuiliar that the connoiseur insists on these days. Get with it.

Give me the varied delights of lager (mass produced or otherwise) over the sickly-sweet, one dimensional rot of fermented apples any day. And yes, I tasted overpriced 'organic' Cider at the New Lanark Gala Day last summer where there was nothing else to drink. On draught from a man with a big bus full of the stuff. Still tastes crap.
