I hope the New Order comeback gigs havent been overshadowed by this other comeback announcement,I didn't notice any reviews of the 2 gigs in the Uk broadsheets as of yet but a lot of coverage of the Stone Roses.
Gigsandtours.com. 5 minutes on line queue then up popped the order page,nice . 3 for the Friday
What's with the Daily Mail bigging up the Stone Roses so much? Every frickin link i see about them reforming is a Daily Mail one.
Seriously though, are they actually any good live? I don't recall hearing " Stone Roses-great live band/ great Stone Roses gig" ever . Or maybe my view is clouded by reviews and accounts of the crap Spike Island do and the Reading 96 debacle (admittedly that was without Squire and er, one of the others that i can't remember) Obviously Brown's live vocals are well renowned as being truly appalling but was/is Squire any good live?
Didn't buy the first album until around March 1990 (nearly a year after its release)when i was oooh.. 21. Great memories of playing it to death that first couple of months as winter turned to spring and what felt like the dawn of the 90s after a long dark winter. But obviously i have to say at this point, yet again, that House Of Love's "Butterfly" album that was released in early 1990 pisses all over Stone Roses' debut
And i never wore any of those fucking flares, either.

And yeah I do find the lack of reviews in the British press of the New Order shows strange, don't think there was even anything up on the NME website after the shows.

You're on a similar wavelength to me with that post. I never saw the fuss about them either. Like the odd tune and the first album was okay, but no big deal was it?
Mind you, they're such a great band for making lots of dosh from though.....

Bugger , yeah I could have made a mint out buying and selling tickets . Will have to start thinking that way in future . Didn't for one minute think they'd sell out Heaton Park. Thought they'd left it too many years and people had finally moved on. A bit surprised actually.
Funny how time alters people's perceptions... A mate at work was raving about this as if it was an all expenses paid trip to the land of milk and honey, rather than a bunch of blokes who made an (admittedly rather good) album and spent the next 22 years arguing and releasing little of any real note reforming... 
It's not as if there aren't other reunions to get excited about...

Well it was actually pretty fucking obvious,even if you weren't a genuine fan,that this was going to be the hottest ticket of the last 20 years.
Nearly everyone of a certain age was just bang into the Roses,I mean you don't have to be Carol Vorderman to do the maths on that one.

I think the fact they haven't done anything for 20 years adds to the mystique. New Order getting back together, So what? Most of their fans have seen them at least half a dozen times this century. I didn't know New Order were playing again, to be honest I'd sooner never see them again. Stone Roses still have some kind of potential in people's minds.

The support act for saturday is Noel Gallagher. He won't say so but it'll happen, and Sunday apparently its, and I actually find this hard to believe myself, Electronic. Well, Sumner & Marr he said.
