All you aussies, the first list of bands have been announced for Januarys Big Day Out and Kraftwerk are one of them .. Any other fans in here ??

Johnny G and Mickey Disco-Way (plus a few assorted Norder people whose names will be familiar to some folks here) went to see 'em in Paris just last week .. .
Still waiting for a review, boys.. . ;)
I saw them back in 97 in New York city. It is one of the greatest concerts I've ever been to.
Kraftwerk were excellent last week. They played 3 gigs in Paris and Johnny Giles and I went to 2 of them (both on the same night - last Thursday).
The four members were stood behind what looked like lap tops orchestrating the sounds and the video/graphic stuff on a big screen behind them.
A devastating set list which comprised of The Robots, Expo 2000, Homecomputer, Tour de France, The Model, Autobahn, Radioactivity, Neon Lights, Numbers, The Man Machine, Computer World and Musique Non-Stop amongst others.
There were even some people walking around in the red shirt / black tie combo straight of the cover of the Man Machine album.
Anyone remember their gigs circa 1990 'The Mix' album. All band members on stage for the opening song 'The Modeller' to much applause at the end (in fact, the crowd went bonkers) ... then, the 4 'real' robots walked on stage and the 'fake, human band members' where removed from their various computer terminals to make way for 'ze robots.
That could have been the other way 'round but you get the picture.
Karftwerk utterly superb.
Tour De France a much underrated Kraft Cheese Slice.
I saw them headlining a festival four years ago and it was one of the most amazing concerts I ever seen. They don't play really, only sequencers (and robots) are used, but who cares?

Brian, a major league bootlegger recorded all 3 of last weeks Paris shows. I'll let you know when he's put 'em onto CD if you're interested.
Security in Paris was pretty tight, searching all bags & light frisking on the way in. Anyone caught with a camera had to leave it with an attendant. Somehow, our boot friend managed to smuggle in a digital camera & his recording gear, got chucked out towards the end of the first show but like all true pros this didn't stop him from repeating his efforts the very next night.

Couldn't add much to our Mickey's words but the audience & venue are worth reflecting on.
It was more of an art gallery type of place & all rather intimate, we were stood in the wood floored general entry area. The crowd were a curious mix of chin strokers, younger types whooping it up & us lot.
It's all part of the same compex where NO played in May & we went to the same boozer, Le Local Rock, opp Port Pantin metro beforehand. Of course the T-shirt floggers were all dodgy Mancs who had gone via Leverkusen for ManYoo & Luxembourg for a previous but cancelled KW gig. As Mickey said at the time...'the dodgyness, it's just oozing out of them!'. They were sat down with us between the 2 gigs & were having a bit of a chat with Christine, when one of 'em clocked her gig ticket he asked (totally sincerely), did you make them up yourself?!
No sight seeing atall this time, spent all free time with Alex & co in Paris boozers. Still, the gigs were quality.
BDO: New Order this year, Kraftwerk next year - what have I done to deserve this? It's all good. The line-up is looking pretty diverse, which is always a good thing. Looking forward to QOTSA, The Music and PJ Harvey (last saw her at Glasto '95 - what a gig). I have a friend who insists that he has it on good authority that Bowie will be playing. Would be interesting for the novelty factor, not the music. Apparently the Melbourne showgrounds have been improved, which it sorely needed. Ah yes, sun and beer and Kraftwerk - I can see it already.
saw KW at one of the Tribal Gatherings a few years ago - played after a blinding Masters At Work set - uterly superb.... was trying to get to the Lux gig whenever it was slated for - glad I didn't make the trip.... anyone know why it was cancelled?
Expo 2000 is class :D
Especially the mix that's a bit more up-beat.

Wasn't it just postponed by a week?

btw, at the Tribal Gathering outing I had the older Hartnoll brother stood one side of me, and Paddy from Emmerdale stood t'other side. Takes all sorts.. .

You can download free vocoder plug-ins for any VST compatible host sequencer or digital application.
Are vocoders the future? I think you'd be beamed into approximately 1984. Which is kind of an elecroclash futuristic place to be. The past is the present the future is mine.

What is the set list or current updates as to who is performing at BDO this year. I just gave up the chance to see M-One so that I'd be able to go to BDO because a friend told me some of who may perform. And also, Kraftwerk have worked alongside Fischerspooner have they not....??!?!!

what a weird & wonderful that would've been! Any idea why they've thus far ignored UK dates? Not found much press on the KW re-emergence...
