i should've been going to the manc cathedral gig, but am double-booked. [:(]

just had a tiny ticket spree. mbv, low, lanterns on the lake. really excited. still haven't given up hope of depeche mode. (i am a naively optimistic fool.) also really fancy mark eitzel at the bush hall or hebden bridge trades - both gorgeous venues.

yes, but they're rescheduled from last year, and the band are just finishing a new album at the mo - fuller tour later in the year, maybe?

i really want to see the fauns. i'm going to speak to the chap who's putting on public service broadcasting here and see if he'll try coaxing them up.

If The A+Team can pull off more than two bloody gigs a year, then maybe I won't have to wait 'til October to see 'em... [:|]

depeche mode in dublin in the autumn! assuming we get tickets on friday.

my joy is tempered by the fact my little brothers do not subscribe to my new "sitting down at gigs" ethos. ack.

Blimey , i see Primal Scream are playing Coventry Kasbah next Friday night before playing Glastonbury on Saturday night. Cov Kasbah is NOT a big venue.Probably the biggest band that's played there.

I looked up this Lanterns On The Lake you mention. Picked a song called Another Tale From Another English Town. The first few guitar notes and sound instantly brought to mind that version of Song To The Siren that Brendan Perry did for that Canadian radio thing a couple of years back. So I liked the start of the song. Thought the melancholic dreaminess of the song sounded a bit forced on first listen but it's ok. The female vocal sounds similar to someone I can't put my finger on and the music maybe a bit Sigur Ros in places. But yeah I like her voice and the lines she sings about just " wishing our lives away" and " wanting the quiet life " though I don't necessarily condone that attitude. Thank you.

Actually, I think I would have enjoyed the song immensely if I heard it for the first time when I'd been in the bath for 37 and a 1/2 minutes, you know, when the immersion in the water and the gentle sound of the soap bubbles popping starts to have the desired effect . As it was I was hunched over the computer .
