New NBA Season starts tonight

Does anybody in this forum care about basketball? If so, who is your team?

Well, I sorta care enough to check out the results on ESPN, but I haven't paid to see a game in years, and I don't watch it on TV.

Suppose I'm still a Jail, err, Trail Blazer fan after all these years, but I'm not really into providing Paul Allen, the mega-loaded owner who also owns the Seahawks and Ticketmaster, any more money than I have too, which is very little if I can help it.

I watch and attend more college basketball, and the pros I follow are from my fave schools (Duke, Oregon, Kansas, etc) as well as, in general, most players from the Pac-10. Could never stand the smirk that Miles Simon at Arizona always had, and it didn't break my heart to see that Seattle, I think, cut him the other day.

Yeah, it doesn't hurt me to see Miles Simon get cut either. Being a Kentucky fan and hearing Billy Packer say "Simon says championship" about a billion times was gut wrenching!

I took my son to the preseason home opener against the Kings. All key positions (except Shawn Bradley) looked good and the Mavs won. Too bad it wasn't a playoff game!

Im not into it as much as I used to be but still check out the results daily and occasionaly watch a game on ESPN ... My team is New Jersey .... And no they still won't win the championship even after they got the ancient Dikembe Mutombo ...

I'm down with the NFL and college football. At the present time, one of my teams is worth a damn. I graduated from U of Texas and my 'Horns seem to have gotten over the hide tanning they received from OU.

Anyway, the Cowboys blow and they will blow for a long time. It would seem that Jerry Jones used all his GM magic to win three Superbowls in the early '90's.

You guys can't be too happy with Ray Lewis being out for the rest of the season. Keep that guy away from stretch Navigators! Idle hands are the Devil's workshop........

Ray Lewis went to my high school. My brother said that somehow he would always get picked to scrimmage against him and get totally destroyed!

I think every school has a "man among boys". Larry Johnson (Hornets, Knicks, "Grandmama") went to my rival high school. I was 6' 3", a buck sixty-five as a starting center for my school. Let me just say that it was no fun to play him twice a year.

The last "great" football player to come from my high school. was Licoln Coleman. His claim to fame was being spotted playing Arena ball by Cowboy coaches. He played in the now infamous "snow game" against the Dolphins when Leon Lett tried to recover a blocked field goal.

Personally, I prefer watching the New Jersey Talismen - the quarter inch linejacket 'Pete Scribbage' is outstanding as an outside left. His mate 'Carl Forecourt' went to our high school 'Kentucky Bubble Gum Beefburgers' and was the one involved in the now infamous sledge run of '86 against the Philadelphia Cats (where two centre court road sweepers hit a 6!, and big Mitch Savage overran the substitute Wolf Whistler whilst parrying a mackerel on the 9th hole).

Boy oh boy did that cat screetch!!!

Not sure how many homes with real fires there are in Lincoln but I'd have thought it would be necessary to be slightly more specific.

Isn't there an underground miners league? - a bit like Sunday league but games refereed by budgies capable of sniffing out potentially hazardous gas levels?

As if to not compound the problem still further, my Blair Witch synopsis seems to have fallen by the wayside ... and this is 'after' I had commissioned a full-on 3 minute research on the subject.

Don't come back to me wanting the recipe to thwart witch poison, the serum remains a secret. Ssshhhh.

I'm still dating that replicant of Alyssa Milano your mate boxed off for me, so nerr. As for Blair Witch I'm still not Alan Wiser. I now feel I've exhausted all angles of enquiry and it's on the back burner.

Why they didn't have some mad witch on a broomstick flying off at the end ... at least we would have known. But now, look at us man, we're totally messed up.

basketball is the only 'american' sport i can stand to watch (except for ice hockey, but i guess that's considered canadian, as well?). baseball (american rounders) and american football (rugby for sissies) are SO STUPID! (unless the denver broncos are playing, of course. then, it's still a stupid sport, but as a coloradoan i have to support my broncos! it's a patriotic thing.)

having said that, i don't really support any basketball team. i used to half-heartedly support the suns and duke, but now i don't really care. it's a fun game to watch, though.

Who here has ever strapped themselves into a proper set of football pads?
