With a few hours to kill after a very busy time at work, I'm looking for some new bands to listen to. Any ideas about good new stuff?
New music?

i may be late to jump this bandwagon but i got a 6 track promo disc from South for cheap today and it's not half bad. Do you like electronic melodies? Check out anything on Morr Music incl. Lali Puna, ISAN, Hermann & Klein and the excellent compilations Putting the Morr back in Morrissey (nothing to do with morrissey!) and a Slowdive tribute Blue Skied and Clear. RJD2/Prefuse 73/Dabrye are good if you like instrumental, quirky hip-hip. I got the new Metro Area LP on Source recently and it's very good also...70's and 80's influenced mid-tempo, minimal house. Quality. The new Underworld is excellent. Fridge are good if you haven't checked them out yet. I haven't heard St. Etienne's latest but it should be out now or soon. Read a copy of Wire at the newstand and then go shopping!

interpol! great NYC band that is fooking cool. beautiful and melancholy. turn on the bright lights is their first record and it's really good.
and the numerous joy division comparisons from the press might get you interested. honestly, i don't hear it, but i think it's just the clothes these guys wear. their sound is a little more lush and it lulls you into a passive melancholy state or a head nodding dance...very good. they're on the matador label (one of the best american record labels around!) and on the link below, you can check out some of their mp3s.

Saw Puressence at The Scala last week & gotta agree with OB on this, they were quality. Kev is another mate of the infamous Mr Staszko who kindly got us guestlisted.
They've had 3 albums out (I think) & just bought their current one 'Planet Helpless', a lot of good tracks on that. Traces of Doves & traces of the Roses.

I DONT KNOW HOW ANYONE CAN LISTEN TO THAT SHIT
The new Delgados album "Hate" is good as is "A New Morning" by Suede. Saw Suede on Wednesday night at the Barrowlands. They were ace, still got it after all this time. Saw another crackin' band called Electric 6 last Friday. There from Detroit, other than that I don't know anything about them. Very good though.

two very cool albums i've bought lately:
INTERPOL - Turn On The Bright Lights.
- sound a bit like Joy Division, incredible band!
RADIO 4 - Gotham! Some new wave, mixed with punk and DISCO! Nice!

Yeah, that was really bad...
the best thing that night was the cowbell player in ICB, he was a touch of class and should have been given some kind of award for his genius.

Hell yea, I have Gotham, great record. If you like the Cure, (gulp), or just want a nice wall of lush sounds, try South Pacific, "Constance" I believe is the record I heard. Very very VERY good stuff. ah fuck it, forget I mentioned the C***, don't have any predispositions listening to these guys. Go to cdnow.com and take a listen to some samples. No lyrics by the way, so if you need to hear someone sang you may not be into it.
oh yea and if you like to rock out, like I do, Audioslave comes out with their record Nov 19. I can't wait!! Haven't been this happy since the marriage of my other two fav bands....who will remain nameless, lest someone says how can you listen to that shizat.....
