...but the monty python boys will always be the ones to live up to.
There really isn't any comparison with the Pythons. Most all the others were formed by the Python's influence. I'd have to include Mr. Show to the list, however.

Mr. Show rules ! Their awards show parody wherein they skewer Eric Crapton and Brian Wilson, along with awards shows generally, is one of the funniest things ever.

I'm not terribly familiar with Brit comedy beyond the Anglos on the list (MP, Goons, Fringe) so I guess this should be "Fave comedy troupe for North Americans only", but that's more than a mouthfull
