Best bit is that it's not a period.
Worst thing is that it makes prose like this possible:
"It was a dark and stormy night; the rain fell in torrents--except at occasional intervals, when it was checked by a violent gust of wind which swept up the streets (for it is in London that our scene lies), rattling along the housetops, and fiercely agitating the scanty flame of the lamps that struggled against the darkness."
Like it cause it's convenient.

Why is the sky blue? Look it up on the internet, we can't do everything for you.

- Best bit: you can put a dot on top of it: ;. You can't do this with its floating counterpart ', which is a pity imho.
- Worst bit: it only exists in one position, while its floating counterpart has got two possible positions: ' and `.
- Why... ahem. Difficult question. Just try to live without ,, and you will know.
- 99**,99%, as Continental Europeans write, contrary to the rest of the world which use a stupid dot for the decimal: 99.**99%. , is very Latin, and I love it.
- No it's green. Everything's gone green.

- honestly? because it reflects the light from the earth's oceans, which are themselves blue (i think?)
Originally posted by Major Tarantino Hmm.. getting some good reviews in this one. Its the winner so far.
How do you think em up ?
Originally posted by AgentWood 5. honestly? because it reflects the light from the earth's oceans, which are themselves blue (i think?)
no, the reason why the ocean is blue is the same reason for why the sky is blue. i remember watching someone explain this on tv. I think that when light hits the sky and ocean, the particles reflect this blue colour. dunno...could someone check this out?

Hooky comes up with most of them to be honest. I think my threats of starvation keep his mind sharp.

ok, found the answer. it's because blue light gets scattered around much more than all the other colours from the sun, causing the sky to appear blue. courtesy of www.why-is-the-sky-blue.org. yes, the question even has its own website!
