St. Etienne are playing at the Razzmatazz in Barcelona next week (Saturday the 14th). Is anyone else coming by any chance?

If they hadn't been so lacklustre the other week at the Festival Hall, I may have been able to persuade my (former Barcelona resident) other half to have considered it, but I think she's been put off them for life, and would rather do Christmas shopping ! Me, I'll be at Chippenham.

What's going on at Chippenham, then? Car racing? Funnily enough St. Etienne is about the only group my girlfriend and I both like.

It must be said that she likes the Order too, and more importantly she liked them before we started going out (I realised we were made for each other when I put Regret on the stereo and she said something like "Wow, I love this song!)

Imagine if NewOrder fans abandoned them after a lackluster show. I just wish they wouldn't play that cheesy ass retro pop music they started on Good Humor. I like the old stuff but hate that catchy 60's bubblegum pop shit. I'll take Like The Swallow over anything they've done in the past 5 years. Anyone heard the new album?

Can anyone recommend me some quality st. etienne albums? I purchased "So Tough" a few weeks back and wasn't very impressed. It sounds a bit dated to me.

They do date very quickly, that's the trouble with them. If only Sarah Cracknell dated !

Yeah, been playing the album, Finisterre, the last couple of weeks & it's quality IMHO. Much better in the confines of my home than at the RFH.

I'd go as far to say that it stands up against most of their other albums.

St. Etienne must have released more compilations than any other group still alive. As a taster I would go for "Smash the system" but I have the impression that this was a European only release. As for albums I dig "Good Humour" the most but if you think "So tough" sounds dated you won't like Good Humour either because it has a very sixtish feel to it. Completely intentional of course.
