In an alternative reality, I have a band. It's called ICB and features myself on vocals, bass and keyboards and my cousin Rui on guitar and keyboards. "Echo" from the Bunnymen moonlights on the drumkit.

In 1982 this ALMOST became true. My father refused to give me a bass for xmas, thus ruining my chances of becomming a popstar!

Thanks for the mention. It's just done as a hobby, in conjunction with my ongoing degree in Entertainment Technology (our new CD and the website is part of my 'Student Initiated Project' this semester).

I'm the first to admit our New Order and Pet Shop Boys influences - I'd love to do something a bit more experimental, but that all to often takes up more time to play about with arrangements and stuff, and I work part time and stufy full time on top of doing the music! We've started playing about with guitars more recently, and adding two step beats and sounds to our productions, but essentially it's New Order influenced.

Pleased to hear any comments, good or bad, but as I say it's just a hobby!

The website has lots of other content other than just our music - if you visit the 'degree' section you can read some of my degree essays, and the 'gig reviews' section has the band write-ups I've done for the University of Portsmouth's student magazine Pugwash (including a New Order Brixton Academy gig from last year).

I'll get round to sticking some of my solo and various bands' work online eventually. Problem being that most of it dates from pre-CD days, so the masters I have are on tape, and we all know the problems I have turning tapes into CDs or MP3s !!

I really would love to start a band, but all the musicians wanted ads around here are for Journey cover bands or Creed/LimpBiscuit/Eminem wannabes. When will the bastards learn? Oh well, like I said, still waiting for Mr. Marr

Trevor, I feel your pain. It's exactly the same out here. I recently posted an ad on a local coffeehouse website. No replies of course. I always look at the ads at independant music stores and such but it's always something who lists their influences as Whitesnake, Creed, Nickelback, and REO Speedwagon.

Right now, I don't even have a car, so starting a band is the least of my concerns.

I do know how to play a little keyboards/piano, although I don't know all the details of synths, and I've taught myself a little guitar. So, I'm at least as good as Gillian! Anyway, if anyone here lives in West Michigan...

By the way, does anyone know what kind of guitars New Order has used? Did they use the same ones in the studio as they did live?

I've been wanting to start a band as well, but everyone around is into this whole "hardcore" "emo" punk whatever type junk. Anytime a band is formed in this town, they invent a new lable for themselves. It's sad...

I had a band going for me when I was 16, but we broke up because we all wanted to do soemthing different. Me, I like pop and dance music, or rock that you can at least dance to. They wanted to play metal songs, and all I did was sing poppy love songs. It sounded pretty funny, like it didn't belong together, but they didn't like the idea and kicked me out. Of course they went on to find a some jackass in Misfit's attire, and went on without me. And you know all the kiddies ate it up, this was highschool at the time.

Anyway, the idea of being in a band seems next to impossible for me now. I do write songs from time to time, but they have all been on computer and I can't perform any of it live. Not in this town, anyways. It's nothing too great either, just weird moody soundtrack music mixed with early 90's house stuff. Sort of like Moby, I suppose.

Yes, what happened to his black & white Stratocaster?

In the 80's I was in a band called "Funeral in Berlin" which should give you a fair idea of what we were about really - actually pretty good in hindsight as we had quite advanced equipment for a small band. Lots of covers including "Perfect Kiss" & "Take the Skinheads Bowling" by Camper Van Beethoven..."Funeral in Berlin" was the title of one of the Harry Palmer (Michael Caine) movies from the 60's.

I take it you've heard the Maniac Road Sweepers' version of Take The Skinheads Bowling ?

i'm going to start my own label very soon, 'cos i'm fucking sick of all these A&R's in Germany. i got myself a distributor and a promotion agency, formed a liveband and invested a lot of money into promotion tools. i hope it's going to work somehow ;)

very good indeed. the demos, because of the drum machine, sounds a little like revenge except for the sound of your voice (you sing right? pretty good!). nevertheless I liked more the sound of the real drums, that give your songs a lot more color. in circles and frankestein are my favorites though the rams are a bit too short to tell. good job! by the way, can I join your label? :D

Yeah i know the RealAudio-Files are a bit too short. i'm going to put some full length files up very soon. much business to do with doing an own label, and it's dead expensive i can tell you...anyway, nice to get some positive feedback :)
