Looks good, just wish I had the money to get over there fer the craic......got a sub Donnie Boy?;)
Deffo worth checking out some travel deals matey!
If we can sort out some cheapo flights then im sure i can help you out if ya a bit short!
anyone else up for a trip Stateside next year??
so we all meet up and stay at Brian's place for the match at Seahawks Stadium????
sound like a corker...or maybe we can all fit into a hotel room...
I'm game for it if you kids are...
who else is ready???
Donnie B....check out prices, and we'll see......I suppose it'll be good to meet up with them crazy bastards over there
![]()
and actually, Seattle can be a tad bit expensive to fly into...any of the other dates look appealing???
New York City is a hell of a place...but expensive as well...
not too sure about Philly...
and LA just flat out sucks, from my personal experience...
think you lot can get Jarvo over, or does he only do the states for New Order gigs???
that match against Juventus might not be too bad...
Boy, that'll be a nice summer treat, to be in Seattle to see that match. Rest assured, I will almost certainly be there, seeing as it's just a fairly short drive for me. Should be a great time, hopefully somebody will make it out this way.
Well im serious about going, and i know Shug would be well up for it if the price was right!!
How many other of you guys in the States could make it?
Looks like Green's gonna be there :D
Originally posted by The Happy One think you lot can get Jarvo over, or does he only do the states for New Order gigs???
Would love to, but I've been persuaded to blow three weeks hols straight off in Feb to go to Barbados.
After that, time off will be tight (so only gigs at weekends boys, if you're gonna do any more! Oh, and absolutely no gigs in Feb, please. Unless it's in Barbados!).
;)
So...I see you guys are not placing much faith in NO touring again next year. Far less in them having an album ready before the Summer. I am specially worried about Al's attitude being personally sure that Barney calls him beforehand to arrange gig dates ![]()
Ok here are the dates for the United part of the tour (Shugzy you will have to check out the Celtic ones as i cant find them on Celtics website!)
Never having been to the states and not having a map to hand, how far apart are these places from each other?
And which of our friends from the States will be up for coming to some/all/any of the games??
July 22nd United-Celtic - Seahawk Stadium in Seattle July 27th United-America - Los Angeles ColiseumJuly 31st United-Juventus - Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey August 3rd United-Barcelona - Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Definitely gonna be going
Have had a few words with a couple of mates at work, hopefully they can sort out a discount fer flying over as their birds work in a travel agent....will be sound meeting up with Green Guy and my favourite mad yanky himself JEFF THE CHEF
We'll definitely go to the Celtic v Utd game, we'll have to see how much I can save up, and hopefully we could make 2 weeks of it!
Can you believe me in America? whoooo fuckin hoooooo
![]()
Seattle is BEAUTIFUL in July. You guys must come. The new Seahawk Stadium is quite nice...plus the 81-82ep (vinyl) is sitting in a shop just around the corner. I will definitely be going to this match.
(yes Shug, Geoghagan is IRISH!)
so Brian...does that mean we can bring our sleeping bags and use your floor for sleeping arrangements???
just checked out some flights from Dallas, and Seattle is much cheaper now than it was just a little over a year ago...
so when can we get our tickets???
gotta check with the missus of course but i don't see the harm in a couple folks at the pad. Won't Shug be in quarrantine for 6months though?

That'll be interesting, fer sure!
Really hope that as many of you can make it over here as possible, I've got a couple of people over here excited about the match.
Worst part of the whole thing is that since it is at Seahawks Stadium, it just means that Paul Allen, who is the owner of the Seahawks AND Ticketmaster, will make a ton of money off of the whole thing.
At any rate, haven't seen any word of when tix will go on sale, but I've already booked my holiday time next year, so this will be indeed be a treat. Can't wait. ![]()

Nice one, I'm sure we'll sort out arrangements closer to the event.
For all the Americans that have sent me their address' (I know that's you Brian, Green Guy, Jeff and a couple of others) I'm putting together a few cassettes (seeing as you's havnae got PAL VHS over there) the Warsaw LP that never was, plus I'll send over Manchester or London from this year, you's will have them just after Christmas peeps
Cannae wait, I've also just spoken to Liv on the phone, and there's a possibility that she'll be over there at the same time!
Could be one hell of a drunken holiday:D

Oooh the irony!!! ;) but im very much going :D, if not simply for the fact that the next time someone says.. 'oh your a united fan i bet you've never been to oldtrafford' i can say, nah i go to the states to watch them play

(pass the prawn sarnies ;) )
Need some help from some of you crazy americans, just how much is it for flights between places such as Seatlle to New York, or New York to Los Angeles etc...
Just so I know exactly how much to save up, and make sure there's plenty left fer lager:D ![]()

I've just been on the phone to him, he told me what you put, and said something like..."What's that bigg eedgit on about Shug? he supports Luton!"
Only kidding;)
Yeah, we're making arrangements as soon as I have the details of the rest of the Celtic games, we have both agreed that we'll definitely be visitng the Big Apple at some stage in the proceedings, I just hope the games take place on the same nights and same venues, it would make life that much more easier fer a lazy bastard like moi:D

I think they might work for you Ingerlish type folk...
got the best prices for my latest flights at Orbitz...
Back to the top for this thread as i've been ordered by Shugzy to learn some geography and read an atlas!!
Looks like were gonna be landing in Seattle and then flying to New York, all i know there like loadsa miles apart. Is this an impossible mission?
Anyone round the NewYork area wanna meet up if we make it their?
Oh and Shug says we gotta fit Canada in somehow as well to visit Nicos and Seb :D

It's not impossible - it's on the way back to Blighty! Internal flights in the US are reasonably cheap. Johnny G stopped off in Noo Yoik on his way back from the Area:One gigs in 2001.
At least the ManYoo-Celtic love-in will actually be IN Seattle. We arrived in Seattle wondering where the Gorge Ampitheatre was, only to be told it was 150 miles(!!) outta town. Should've looked up a map before we went, I guess?! ![]()
Cheers fer that Al, but the cheapest way for us is gonna have to be a return flight from Seattle, my plan is as follows, fly out to Seattle on the 20th, a few days there, watch the game, I know that Brian Geoghagan, Green and Jeff The Chef are definitely gonna be meeting up fer a few lagers, then hopefully over to Canada to see our webmasters and whoever else can make it, then onto New York to meet a few onliners there, I have been in touch with Jim Giliberto, and does Tabsy not spring from that neck of the woods?
May well have to get masel an American Express card, cos I've got a feeling £300 isnae gonna go far![]()
Basically, we need to know distances / prices / flying time / do they serve free beer on the planes?
Seattle to Quebec / Seattle to New York Quebec to New York New York to Seattle.
Oh, nearly forgot......who's house are we staying at?![]()

Shuggie didn't you mention Boston also???
As I'd mentioned before, it looks like the ManU/Celtic match'll start at 8 in the evening, for those who are travelling to Seattle, at least according to one of the local rags. Tickets for the event aren't scheduled to go on sale until March 15. As for now, my plan is to drive up sometime on Monday the 21st, the day before the game, and have a hotel room for a couple of days, but that's all depending on whether or not on who I drag from work to enjoy the game.

Good stuff Green thanks!
Now its all about getting a cheap flight to the US, i dont suppose anyone on here works for a travel agents by any chance?? ;)
Flights were checked out today, and they're not quite as fucking cheap as I thought!
Looks like it'll be a minimum of £400 - £500
Anyone wants to send any money to a poor Scottish Orphan.....send yer money to ShugZV....![]()
Aye Jim, I did mention Boston
There are loadsa places of interest I want to go, as I've said, it'll depend on money and time. But I'd love to meet up with all the Irish in Boston, I know for definite there are quite a few Celtic Supporters Club there, as well as New York!
Green Guy, I was speaking to Donovan today, and we think it'd be easier if you got the tickets for the game for us, Donovan will sort the money out via credit card.....we want tickets for the Celtic part of the ground:D
If he says otherwise, just ignore him
You'll have to let us know about the hotel as well, we haven't got anything sorted yet either, unless it's all back to Brian G's![]()

Oii!!!!!! were sitting with the Glorious Reds or if you twist my arm with the neutrals Shugster ;) ![]()
Dunno how much the place holds, but Celtic had a good few thousand at a friendly last January in New York, there'll be thousands more Celts than Mancs over there
Neutrals will easily lean towards the Celts:D
So we're as well sitting in the Celtic end![]()
Have a look at travel4less.co.uk some of the flights are really cheap, but nothing much on offer for Seattle yet im afraid :(
Anyone other good sites? i really only know of cheapflights.co.uk and travel4less.co.uk
Since tix haven't gone on sale yet, I've yet to figure out where the fans of each side'll be. I gotta say though Don that I have much more green in my wardrobe than I do red ;) ![]()
Seriously, I'll let you know what's up as it happens; the telephone number in the adverts just brings up a message announcing the match.

free beer on domestic flights?? might as well ask if you can light up a fag...
unless you are flying first class...those fuggers get free everything...and a real meal in most cases...

Expedia was 588pounds which is too dear
travelocity was 1047dollars which is also too dear.
Got a few numbers to call up now, but its not looking too promising so far....

Even I have just started putting a few quid on the lottery again! Brasco has a couple of contacts to chase up over the weekend, we're hoping to get a return flight for somewhere in the region of £400 if possible. As soon as Manchester is out the way, I'll be saving like a mad eedgit, I fucking hate the thought of having to work overtime, but it's a price I'm willing to pay. I have a feeling me and America are gonna get on just fine:D
Things are looking up!
Discoved that a slight reshuffle of our trip could seriously bring the price tumbling down!
Basically seeing the game towards the end of the trip and doing NewYork first looks the way forward!!
Cheapest return flight found from NY to Seattle so far is 143gbp (usair) can this be beaten...?
But flights to NY are waaaaaaay cheaper from the UK than flights to Seattle :D
Its slowly but surely coming together!! all you NewYorkers Seattle'rs GET READY!!!!!!!!
ID and Shuglet...how long are you kids going to be in Seattle?
I may have a spare sofa-bed in the suite I'm looking at...
would help you gents save a few pence...
I'll be in town from the 17th...leaving the 24th...
or did we all decide to crash at Brian's place?!?!?!

Nice one Jeff!,
We will be in Seattle from July 18th or 19th till the 23rd
any offers of somewhere to crash over are of course all gratefully received :D :D :D

Haven't heard anything from Brian fer a while, but I'll sleep anywhere matey
The tentative dates we have at the moment is flying out to New York on the 10th of July, probably arrive in Seattle on the 18th or 19th, flight back to NY on the 23rd, going home on the 24th.
Any New Yorkers oot there, what's the prices fer a week in a half decent hotel? or alternatively....if someone wants to put us up![]()
How many people are planning on being in Seattle for this match? I can put up two people...one on a futon and one on the floor. I wish i had a couch with a pull out sleeper but i don't. Those things are heavy.
I am looking forward to seeing you guys up here so send me an email and we'll discuss the plan.

My arrangements are still the same as last week, driving up on Monday the 21st to a hotel, and leave on the morning of Wednesday the 23rd. What I'm gonna need to know is how many tickets to buy; at this point, I'm assuming myself, Shug, Don, Jeff, and Brian, plus a buddy from work, which makes 6. Remember tix go on sale on March 15th, so there's still a bit of time.
BTW Shug, got the package today. Damn bloody nice!
Listening to the Warsaw tape right now, it's been pouring rain all day, this was a great ray o'sunshine. Cheers mate. :)
hello again...I shall be needing two tickets now...let me know how much I need to send your way...I can even do it early if necessary...

NEVER!!! Besides there all Man U supporters Shugzy!!!
simply a class above the rest ;)
before anyone mentions the Arse - we'll we've already beaten them once this season and we'll beat em again in the league and win the FA Cup 5th round tie.
easy :D
Figured that your clubs would obviously have some tix to offer their supporters, so I'll just wait to see how that plays out over the next couple of months.
As for moi, I'll certainly be wearing green (well, I do have a name to uphold, at least) :D
It will be a sea of RED !
Celtic fans will be GREEN with envy after MAN U show them how the beatiful game should be played :D

excitement is definitely on the rise...it was sunny and beautiful here today, just like it will be in July...anyway, here's a message from SHUGLETTE! this is a cut n paste job from his most recent email:
"I'm there as much as I ever was, but for some reason the bastard place won't let me log in!!!! If you get on there tonight, please add to the thread that Jeff is my hero for getting the Celtic jersey, tell Green Guy he's to do the same....just to piss Donovan off. Speak to you soon compadre....all the best, Shug"

If we played in the diadora leage, or leyland daf's reserves league or whatever it is called up there then we'd no doubt be harping on about winning a game conceded by United in good sportsmanship, im sure a worthy charity benefited from us letting you win that one...
As it is we'll carry on with the serious business of playing professional football (all your players are part time plumbers or electricians arent they!?) you can play sunday league kickabouts with the half a dozen teams or so teams in your league and the struggle in the uefa cup with other losers like liverpool!!!! ;) ![]()

Any word from the UKers on when tix'll be available from your respective clubs?
Nice one Green guy, as far as I know, the tickets go on sale here on the 15th as well......e-mailed the Parkhead ticket office a week or two back, but they are fuckin useless, Donnie's been in touch with the Manc ticket office and they're definitely going on sale on the 15th.
It might be a better idea if we all get the tickets together (yourself, me, donnie and jeff, I'm not sure if Brian is definitely going)
Had an e-mail from Brian Go last week, he's trying to sort out a Manchester Music night in a club in Seattle.....how fuckin great will that be! I'll be in touch soon me ole mucker![]()
Spoke to a guy on the ManU ticket desk, he reckons tickets ARENT mixed and will be in supporters ends, He's sending me a ticket application form.
So fuck you lot im gonna sit on my own with my RED DEVIL ARMY!! :p
Brasco, you'll be sitting on yer own then
......I just e-mailed Green, I think he's gonna be getting my ticket. We're also going to the Celtic training session the day before, they done this the last time in America and drew a crowd of 10,000 just to watch them train.......can't say that about the Mancy lads can ye;)
Well, the tickets went VERY fast, at least the ones that were available to the public, so they were gone by the time I got home on Saturday night ![]()
All is not lost, though, I talked to the Ticketmaster rep, who said that there were a lot of unsold tickets, but that they were in group packages and such, so keep an eye out for those, and I'm gonna keep both eyes peeled out for the classified ads and ticket agencies here in the Northwest, and trying to contact a person or two.
Stay tuned for further details as they come in.........
I'll see what I can find out from Celtic at the weekend, too busy at work and replying to emails this week![]()
We'll get to the game, don't you's worry about that;)
Got it Don, things aren't that bleak on the ticket front actually,; they can be had of course, and by god they will be had :)
Still haven't heard officially what section ManU'll be in, but it'll more than likely be the Northwest section, so I'll look for something for ya in there.
Brian G. is interestested in joining us, but I haven't heard from Jeff/Grigori yet again recently.
Bottom line: I feel a lot better about it today than this time yesterday! ![]()
oops...sorry...been out of touch...of course I would prefer we all sit together...if it can be arranged...and just checked my e-mail...sure enough, Allan mailed me a few days back...what's the latest story?!?!?!
and my friend also wishes to join us...I'll be back by noon my time today!
