any tech wizzkids can help me?

can anyone help me on how to download some of no music, that is currently sitting in my documents and received files.

i have xp windows and media player as normal, the two 7 inch singles are under real player for some reason.

i dont know, but is it possible to download off this site and tranfer them to cd, ive been messing about trying to for some time now. when they advertise these computers on telly they make it look so easy, not they make it easy by giving you a manual to read up on.

if anyone could be of assitance i would be very grateful. i have emailed certain places like windows and pac bell and even phoned currys but not much luck.

if anyone can help ill give them a private dance for them all to themselvesxxxx

I just plug the audio lead in my computer onto my HiFi and record stuff straight onto MiniDisc :)

Burning it onto CD is a bit more hassle though, you need a burner and some software for starters.

But im sure someone can give a more 'techy' answer if u want ;)

yes i have the cd facilties to burn onto and all the cd and dvd stuff and all that, but yes its trickier than it looks.

i might try the lead though into my hifi, it might work onto my cd, its worth a try though.

thanks for your help don anyway, had this computer almost 7 months but i really need to get into it and suss things out,(if i uniterrupted time, and i was a computer boff would be a help). i shall get there eventually...

Real Media files are usually streaming files. You haven't actually downloaded the song, just the link to make it play over the internet. Therefore it is impossible to burn this type of file to CD, to do that you'd need the file in mp3 format.

oh right, well i did manage to download the file onto my cd and not the song and now i know why. thanks for your help old bluey.

Are you using Nero for burning? Using the file browser you can drag and drop audio files into it to burn. If you have a decent sound recording facility(windows only seems to record 60 seconds worth) you can record what you are streaming as an audio file. Streams are usually pretty poor quality, you'd probably be better downloading the tracks.

nero? now you've got me there, i haven't a clue. but thanks anyway, that little bit of info will come in handy when it all starts to click. if all else fails i'll shall burn the computer with petrol and a lighted match:)

Yeahh Ian, Nero is definitely good for burning (while playing the lire!)

i have managed to get them to my media player now, the properties say mpge audio 3 128kps. i've just put a cd in and it said it had info on it so could i pick a blank cd. they suppose to be rewritables. any way thanks for all your help folks, seems i'm getting there now. looks like i have a lot of dancing to do eh!! old bluey seems excited about that prospect;)
