I've never heard them. I think I may have had the wrong impression of them for decades, based solely on their name, which I think I subconciously associated with Hanoi Rocks. Or perhaps The Mission.

I don't have anything by them (save "Academy Fight Song" on a post-punk compilation) but my cousin has the ep they put out. They're pretty damn good, and when I get some time I might try and get my hands on their stuff.

i can't get over how *absolutely* british their voices sound, while they hail from boston.

They've got more than an EP out Tabsy, and I love 'em as much as I ever have. Not really dissimilar to the Gang Of Four musically(without the politics), at least they've hit the reunion circuit this year without being as disappointing as the renewed Television.

Don't know if they live album they put out on Ace Of Hearts is out on CD, but it's a loud, aggressive record, and it features a couple of smoking covers: Pere Ubu's Heart Of Darkness and the Stooges' 1970, which features the great introduction: "We have to do this song..........cause we have to do it!!!" Good enough reason for me.

Can't remember what was exactly on the Rykodisc CD that they put out a long time ago, but I believe that it had almost every single official song that they did. It was the world's first 80 minute disc, and no filler at all on that one.

There are also a couple of vinyl discs that feature some great outtakes, on TAANG! records, including Forget, the video of which actually appeared on MTV once.

i bought 'vs.' today! :) !!! Einstein's Day and Forget are great!

Almost none of the record stores in my area have any MOB, so I'll have to try online.

I always thought they had a similar sound to the early JD (Warsaw) but I doubt JD actually influenced them. They come from Boston, the same city that Jonathan Richman hails from. His album with the original Modern Lovers lineup (there were three or four different lineups, with Jonathan the only mainstay, from 1971 to 1988) is a must-have for any self-respecting punk fan. In other words, check him out if you like MOB
