Radio times just done another one of these meaningless polls and Ricki Gervais came out top with Steve Coogan (Alan Partridge) second.

Having got Peter Kays dvd (live at the top) at christmas he now gets my vote

As far as I'm concerned, here's my preferences (no particular order)

oh, and speaking of vic reeves, have you heard the story about when barney and vic went out on the piss and barney drove to mossside and abandoned a very twatted vic reeves there without his shoes? a good samaritan helped him find his way to a minicab company. totally true!

I wouldn't say 'most influential' but Dave Chapelle is a comedic genius. His HBO special and some of the stuff from Half Baked never gets old. I got tickets to see him in LA on Valentines Day.. giddyup..

Have to agree with P.J. He was still the editor of National Lampoon when I started reading it; the title of the first story of his I read was something like How To Drive Real Fast While Getting Your Wing-Wang Squeezed While Not Spilling Your Drink. His books are very funny too, sorry I missed his brief stint on 60 Minutes.
