The New York State and the Québec Province have decided to do a joint venture and present their nomination to be the co-host the winter olympics in 2012 or 2016...

Has Montreal finished paying off the debt for the last ones it hosted? Are they sure they want it again? There's talk of London bidding, please God no!

I know you Londoners are over the moon with the recent spell of snow (well, Inta was!) but do you really think you'd qualify for the Winter Olympics?

No, we're still paying for the Olympic Stadium...

That's a money pit. And it's already obsolete...

er...made error...quick, change the subject...

why isn't there an autumn olympics? Conkers, bonfire building, leaf raking...we'd do well at that.

i know they were trying to get the olympics here in new york city , i reall yhope they dont because there is enough traffic and congestion already, the olympics would be a nightmare, but financially might help the city

i think it would be great if it happens, and only being a few hours away would be nice. And although I do not know him personally, the person heading up the effort, just retired Senator Ron Stafford has considerable pull where it could happen

Olympic stadium! yeh! :) ..i found it unnerving that for miles you could see those big ugly support beams(not sure what there).

Actually that's a jolly good idea! An Autumn Olympics with the more sedate sports. We could include Tiddlewinks, windowshopping, marathon-newspaper-reading-siting-by-the-window-while-outside-is-pouring-with-rain, best cuppa...Nothing too strenous...

Now seriously, getting the Olympics was the best thing it has happened to Barcelona, it changed the city beyond recognition and it raised immensely its world standing to put it on a par with Madrid and the great cities of Europe.
