what about the bachelorette/meet the folks continuum? its all garbage innit,but esp. funny when trista(bachelorette(i butchered the spelling)) talks about 'how real' she is being..

A big NO to everything mentioned in this thread so far; hearing people talk about it the next day is bad enough.

haven't watched any of the the bachelorette/meet the folks/joe millionaire shows...just american idol. AND PROUD OF IT! :D

i just watched elimidate. i feel really sad.

They're even showing it over here, though if you're lucky enough not to receive ITV2 then you'll be spared.

we get 'the office'? haven't seen it on over here...unless it's on BBC america, which you have to have digital TV to get. (if i could, i would...i miss my 'eastenders'.)

and, ahem, who gave the US the idea for 'american idol' in the first place? we even imported simon cowell! i lived over there during the whole will young/gareth gates hooplah, and ours is basically a carbon copy of 'pop idol' from what i've witnessed. (voted for will, as it happens.:D)

That stuff is just the worst thing to watch on television, period. How do you watch that stuff without feeling aggressive and violent? The "judges" in command are just people as short-sighted and stupid as the contestants. I mean, if this show succeeds, the criteria will be "Were you a contestant in the past?" If you were a good sport, you get a lifeguard chair to slam people who you used to be. Great! Thanks, Fox! Keep trying to out-parodize the Simpsons!

i think of it as similar to looking at a festering wound filled with maggots. you know you shouldn't look, yet you're sickenly drawn to it for the 'ick' factor.

Recognizing real talent, off course....(that would ruin the show to have someone who could actually SING!)

Watching a couple of minutes of Joe Millionaire while waiting for the local news last night kinda creeped me out; that is a show that definitely needs a MST3K treatment, preferably in the same room where they're taping.

unfortunately 'american idol' conflicts with 'buffy the vampire slayer' so i can only catch the former during the adverts now. oh, well....

and i've never seen joe millionaire.... :D

i've never seen it. it looks terrible. and i hate the way that guy "Simon" is so fucking mean to everyone (according to the commercieals in which Fox highlights how much of an asshole he is to make the show look more intriguing).

I think the show "Blind Date" at least has the redeeming quality of really capturing each contestant's dismay at being caught on camera with such losers. There's something theraputic about that...:D

oh. no. what is that? sounds almost temptation island-y.

'cheaters' is an undercover show where they follow someone who is suspected of cheating, the host then shows their other half the evidence, and then they film the person confronting their spouse/partner and the person they're cheating with. you get some pretty serious 'jerry springer' moments. only more realistic.

oh wait, i think i saw one episode. a women started crying and hitting her boyfriend with her purse..wild.
