If there is one thing I am obsessed with more than New Order, it is this amazingly funny show. Anyone else on here a Simpsons Freak??
Simpsons 300th Episode tonight on Fox

Simpsons freak present. It's amazing that the show considering it's been on the air for a long time still comes up with some amazing stuff.
I'm a long time follower.. watched 300 & 301 tonight as well...
Unfortunatly, the reason why I started following the Simpsons is no longer there... RIP X-Files...
We had a new to Sky1 episode on last night where Marge takes steroids and gets carried away with fitness training after being mugged taking maggie to the toilet outside that kwik-e-mart supermarket they go to. She develops agrophobia and goes crazy on the bodybuilding.
How many episodes or (seasons!?) behind are we to you guys in the States?
but was it just me or were 300 and 301 just horrible episodes? you'd figure the 300th episode would warrant something more than just a crappy tony hawk/blink-182 guest storyline. youd figure one of the most self-referential shows of all time would give some fans a bit more for the 300th episode? maybe its just me.. i watched both episodes with some friends who are all die hard simpsons fans and there were only a handful of instances of serious laughter. as my roomate put it 'you put those shows together and you still dont have one funny episode'
thoughts?
I didn't think they were especially good, but they weren't as lame as a few episodes from the last couple of years have been. I thought 301 was better than 300.
I like the show. Now that I have no chance to watch Fox here, as I did in Texas, I could only wonder how this 300th one could be. Cheers.
I've never seen the appeal of The Simpsons - I've tried, but it just doesn't do anything for me.
The recent batch of episodes don't come close to older seasons, but they are much better than those of a few seasons back. Older Simpons were genis but these recent seasons seem more intent on making fun of the show itself than making a funny show, if that makes any sense.
By the way, huge Simpsons fan here... one of my favorite quotes...
"Oh no! A floating Anti-Escape Orb!"
I've always been a fan, but I agree that recent seasons don't hold a candle to the earlier ones. However, it just means that the seasons as a whole are not consistant. Some episodes are laugh-less, and others have me floored. Just one of those things, who can expect a 14 year old sitcom to remain in it's prime forever?
The fake ads at the beginning and end of episode #300 (Baby Stink-Breath and the Viagra-Rogaine product) were drop-dead hilarious, with the single best 'health warning' of the show's history at the end ("warning: may cause loss of scalp or penis"). Otherwise....a forgettable episode.
Other than the ads, the part that really had me laughing was Homer's "incriminating photos" of dangling and dropping Bart over the side of a balconey. Pure cultural zeitgiest ![]()
