24 hour party people

does anyone out there know what the song by joy division is in 24 hour party people the one where Ian Curtis turns up late because he is in the toilet.

Interstingly enough, the song that they were playing during the actual incident (where Ian was on the toilet or something) was either Dead Souls or No Love Lost (can't remember which one Debbie said it was in her book). Just a little more for those intense "Joy Division" questions in Trivial Pursuit :p

Well, here's another (somewhat silly) question about the movie, for those who reside in North America and saw the movie in theater:

when Wilson goes through the Pistols show attendees and tells what they'd become of, a snippet of a NewOrder show is shown. Does anybody remember what song it was..? I saw it in theather 3 times or so and I could've sworn it was New Dawn Fades or some other song, not World In Motion like it is on the DVD..! I just don't remember hearing WIM anywhere in the movie when I saw it in theater.. Then again the snippet does look like WIM from Reading 98, and playing a JD song when metioning NO is a bit unnatural (unless they intended to show the connection between the 2)

Dunno, it's very likely my fucked up memory playing tricks, but I just felt so strange when I watched the DVD and heard WIM coming out in that sequence..

if i remember correctly, the song was WIM, same as on the DVD.

In the US trailer for 24HRPP, when JD/NO is pointed out in the audience, Blue Monday is the song playing, which is the song most Yanks are familiar with, I suppose.

There is a scene of DC playing to an empty Hacienda, and they crop up a couple of other times too.

The real Vini Reilly makes a breif appearance. The scene wasn't used properly in the film, but Wilson still shows it as part of his little round up of all the other cameos. "It'll be on the DVD" he assures us.

I don't trust the film

a lot of the film stock was lost so the extras were taken from what was left - hence the promised vini cameo not being included

No no, the Vini scene was shown in the actual film! Wilson was being funny when he said it was a deleted scene that you'd only see on the DVD!!

right it was in the film, can any body spot the real new order in the crowd at last night at the Hac? or is that a rumor i heard they were all in there. i saw the UK version of the dvd at a freinds house it is so much better, they have a special feature where they show saville covers and him and tony wilson discuss how he came up with them, very interesting stuff

aye a clip of the scene was but not the whole scene. although he probably was being post modern.

Is there a way to get the version of blue monday that is in the film ??? The version on the soundtrack is different.

I believe it was No Love Lost. The intro to that song is longer than the singing part.

yeah, in the film, it sounded like an acoustic version of blue monday. did new order ever do an acoustic version of blue monday?

It was an acoustic version performed by John Simm (who played Bernard Sumner). I doubt very much if it is available in any kind of format aside from being featured on the film.

John Simm did a great job on that song, it's a shame it will never be available on any format.

Just to clarify - the "long intro Curtis toilet" song in real life was No Love Lost, whereas on the film they had changed it to Digital.

New Order played Digital last year because it had featured in the film - don't somehow think they would have done the same had No Love Lost been in the film !!

Digital is a bit more dramatic than NLL, anyways (it kinda chugs along nicely, while NLL creeps along) so I don't think anyone will be pissed that the "singer's in the toilet" scene featured the 'wrong' song. Hands down one of the highlights of the entire film.

Debbie says it was No Love Lost, because it has a particularly long intro.
