Just a quick look into everyone's current listening habits....what's been in your CD player recently? 
For me, it's been pretty fluid the past few days, but the two constants are the "O Brother, Where Art Thou" soundtrack and the US version of the Clash's self-titled debut ("Police and Thieves" is the absolute best song!)
What's in your player?
I glue neworder cd's into my cd player to eliminate any danger of hearing "other music" (god forbid) ;)
the glue i use is slightly more subsubsubstantial than whats used to hold retro together however.
Recently, I've had Low-Life and the first disc of substance in a lot, but also Please by PSB, "Kiss me, kiss me, kiss me" by the cure, and Pumpkin seeds, a rare Smashing Pumpkins bootlegg with unreleased pre-Gish songs or slightly different versions of Gish songs. Should've been released, in my opinion, since it shows that Billy Corgan can play guitar pretty well. Then, on my comp, I've had stuff from Electronic's first album and "Disappointed" single, particularly "Gangster," and some stuff called electronic ecstacy by New Order, which sounds like live stuff, such as "True Faith" with the "Michael Jackson played with me" lyrics.

its pretty good, but not as good as I wanted it to be. There's some quality songs on it like 'spanish main,' 'dreaming of you,' 'skeleton key,' etc. but the album as a whole doesnt strike me as being _great_. I'm also a little upset because I have a version of 'shadows fall' thats a real cracking tune, but the version they recorded for this release is waaaaayyyyyy too slow and just kinda ruins it for me. but they dont really sound like anyone else out there, and thats as good of a compliment as i can think of..
all in all i'd give it a 6.75 out of 10. pick it up used, or discounted new. =) when it first came out here in the states, target was selling it for $7.00US. I was a bit too slow and missed out on that one.. ohwell.

that album is brilliant! i saw them live yesterday however and that was a bit of a spectacle. four guys bashing the same chords on guitars, all looking for more attention while doing it. it was a little absurd, but something you have to experience for yourself(and then shake your head).--still can't take away from the genius and balance of their recorded material.

I just threw it on the CD player. I saw them in Los Angeles at the silverlake lounge last week. Top stuff. I was just excited to be there. They only played NYC, SXSW and two dates in LA as far as the states were concerned. awesome show and it only set me back 5 bucks. Were the metric with them? I think theyre a toronto band but theyve been spending alot of time here in LA. As far as new wave-y/new order type bands are concerned, you should check them out if theyre ever in town. Theyre kinda like the order meets sioxsie + blondie. I don't think they've recorded anything yet.. but hopefully soon =)
Canada is apparently a hip place to be. I've been trying to get my hands on some stuff by kc accidental (since the track of the same title on yfinp is so dope and i think some guys from the band contributed to the album). any other recommendations?

i have most of the kc accidental album somewhere, but you can listen to it at www.newmusiccanada.com..its alright, but definately doesn't steal bss' thunder. as far as other canadian bands worth listening to, i always recommend: weakerthans, a silver mt. zion and do make say think. i'd almost recommend anything that comes out of the constellation label situated in montreal. but definately check out 'do make say think,' one of the members is in bss and there are some similarities.
and nope metric wasn't with them, but the stars were. i'll check 'em out, though.
As I write this I'm listening to CD2 of Subliminal Sessions @ Sound Planet, a rather fine house CD.
