Have you heard the new band Venus Hum?? They’re a wicked new electronic 3-piece from Nashville and touring over here at the moment. Take a look at their website to get more of a picture of who these guys are www.venushum.com!!

Annette Strean does the lead vocals. Kip Kubin who does Computers, Electronics and Synthesizers sounds like an interesting chap but Tony Mircale miraculously does Computers, Electronics, Synthesizers, Rhodes, Guitars, Bass and Vocals.

I would George, but surely insinuating she is the lead singer when she patently isn't is far more amusing.
If she is so into PR, why have I not seen her in any movie?
Thinking about it, why aren't you in any films?

Rebecca, is this band on the brink of something 'big'? - are you involved in a management company?
![]()
Does it look like I am. Can I not like a band that I know is big in the US and try and get others to like them??
Originally posted by Rebecca Alexander-Smith Does it look like I am. Can I not like a band that I know is big in the US and try and get others to like them??
I am unable to see you, so I cannot make that assessment, it would be unfair.
I was curious to learn more about you after George indicated you were into PR.
There is no foreseeable harm in urging others to enjoy other types of music. Only recently I happened to encourage Pastie to buy Saving Peter Ryan for his own collection of DVD's. You see, he hadn't seen the film and I had and I 'reckoned it was really quite good. A shame for him not to see it I thought. Especially when the historics of WWII have repercussions even today - most notable with the revelation that Hitler was involved in making a UFO!

And does this bloke who said I am in PR know me??? No I don't think he does. Anyways Saving Private Ryan is an excellent film and I reckon the mojority would think so. So if the majority like Venus Hum then it doesn't matter about the few that don't like them.
George is the bloke who said you were in PR. He's mentioned you a few times so I assumed he knew you.
I think he wanted to go out with you on a date.

Do you know Geoff Dick?
I'm not denying that. It just seemed like you were giving Beccy a hard time and all she's ever done is shown us the light with the band; 'The Fiddlesticks'.

I actually own a copy of Hummingbirds by Venues that are a bit on the nose. It was sent to me by the aformentioned Mr Dick who works for BMG.
This is interesting! I said Rebecca was Venushum's PR because her e-mail address ended with "BMG.CO.UK", ie, the english branch of BMG records, one of the largest record labels in the world...
but NOW her e-mail address is no longer available!
Well, the obvious observation is that when someone's very first post is promotional, suspicions do arise.

Yes, but I don't like this kind of scam. I prefer the honest, "hey I have a band" approach, like those Jobe guys did...
And, it seems all of our earlier motions have now been founded.
I hope she takes with her a little of the online humour which we offered her.
Except Hank, who seems to be taking the whole thing far too seriously.

Maybe she should have come on-stream and tapped this;
Hello there New Order fans, I am Angie from BMG, I'm promoting the new BMG band 'The Righteous Brothers' who are currently on tour in Northern Japan. They are due to release their new single 'Cats in the Cat House' sometime in June and have been provisionally booked in for a guest appearance on the show 'Silver Spoons' starring Ricky Schroder who is now grown up and appearing in NYPD Brown.
Anyway, check the Bros. website out which has lots of little promo. titbits to enjoy and a sample of their hit record 'Dog Food'.
Thanks for your time gang, I'm off for me dinner.
Angie the Sparrow.

You took the words, if not the example given, off my mouth. By the way, bye Rebecca!
I am back and you lot make me LAUGH!!! So what if I was from a record company, that just means that I am passionate about music and can tell you about up and coming bands for you lot to get hold of. Then you can show off and say to your friends, have you heard of this band they are really cool and I found them before you!!!
The way we sussed you was brilliant.
George's behind the scenes sleuthing of your e-mail address, Patty's curious ability to extract human behaviour patterns from scant few posts, Hank's off-track meanderings about real life people ... superb.
And to cap it all off you've now come clean.
All ends well.
The true mystery was why you choose to post in the 'general chat-room' as opposed to the more popular (and possibly productive for your purposes) 'New Order Related' auditorium.
Great stuff.
Is it possible to make a film out of this? - is that book still due Pat?
![]()
It took America, Portugal and the UK combined.
A veritable band of brothers, so to speak.
(and Hank).
![]()
I didn't admit to anything, or is there anything to admit to?? I have had people thinking that I am actually in the band on other chat rooms!!! That's really amazing though that people from all over the world are in this chat room!
Oh yes the book. I'd forgotten about that. Yes, this could be an episode. But I think perhaps continued denials and fabricated explanations might be more theatrical.
I'm not sure I ever spied on anyone. George was the sleuth, I tend to stick to the blah! blah! blah!
Either way I'm not sure any of us were entirely serious.
I'm not keen on chat rooms, this is the only one I frequent (ever), and that's because the people seem nice.
![]()
Is 'No Further from the Truth' an implication some people seem not nice? - that's a shame. We have painted a terrible picture. I blame the egg bun I had for dinner.
Unfortunately after checking their website out I was unable to hear any audio samples because they are only available in Windows format; and I a utilise a Mac.
I'm sure they're all nice though.
I'll look out for them in the future. I've heard they're big in the US.
![]()
Where did you hear that from??? No I wasn't being sarcastic either, I meant yes I agree I am nice!!!
Incidentally, this website is very cosmopolitan, it may be worthwhile posting again on the main pages where many attempt to stay on-topic for a few minutes.
George who appeared earlier is from Portugal and although his English is appalling he sometimes shares a few stories about his efforts to track down rare films with monsters in them.
There's a man called Shugzv who audits this off-topic environment but he seems to be occupied elesewhere today, what he doesn't know about Celtic football isn't worth knowing. He's often found using the word 'shite'.
![]()
Originally posted by Rebecca Alexander-Smith Where did you hear that from???No I wasn't being sarcastic either, I meant yes I agree I am nice!!!
Excuse me, my English isn't what it should have been. I'm sure you are nice, but you'd need to show evidence, for instance if you bought your mate a cheese pastie.

Originally posted by Rebecca Alexander-Smith No further from the truth!!!So, what do you think of Venus Hum then?? (he he!)
Hello Rebecca...! I have WindowsMedia, but, alas, no speakers in this PC. So I can't comment on Venus Hum merits, I'm afraid. By the way, take no notice about that guy Huntsman's comments on my english. He's just jealous, you know. Let me inform you, as a side note, that I didn't spy on you... by one of those life's little ironies I just came across the "mail" option that every message displays on this forum: you know what I'm talking about as you deleated it the moment I mentioned it... Anyway, you're welcome!
So do you know Geoff?
Venus Hum aren't much cop, I reckon. Springtime#2 is passable but I don't really like Anette's voice and they seem to use electronic stuff to give them a quirky edge, which I'm not too keen on.
yeah, i'll make you some tea and then you can bring up the venus hum cd and we can boogie out. or not.
Oh yeah sorry, got side tracked by the chocolate fingers coming my way!! So what do you think of Venus Hum then???
I'm pleased to see that within a matter of hours you have now mastered the fine art of chatting in this particular room.
If nobody understands you, always remember that really they should do - and whilst that's in mind, just keep going until someone breaks.

Venus Hum are playing the Metro on Oxford Street tonight, and I was going to see them until I remembered the footy was on the box !

more the fact that I received a link on a mailout to a message board where the biggin' up of 'an usher clone' was not much appreciated. that it mentioned the company i work for just increased my curiosity. followed a few links and hey presto, here i am.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Geoff is ace.
Who is Geoff? - and why is he 'ace'? - does he/she hand around with Snoopy and the Red Baron (2 of the finest WWI shoot gunner pilots of the biplane).
If they were around today they'd be in charge of jets.

I'm still coming to terms with the fact that you like The Rolled out Stoats. Believe me, it was hard to digestive. 'I am unable to get, du du, any more satisfactory produce la la la, la la du du bang bang shoot'.
Their collective age is higher than the eldest warlock in Lord of the Rims. 2.3 to the power 5. Which you think would make them slow down a little, no way, they're like bats out of hades on a machine to sing live in every bar and run-down cat house this side of Grimsby.
Saying that, although I don't know the name of the song, their last new song was quite good. And Mick Dagger sounded good because it didn't sound like he was making love when he was recording his parts.
Is Terry Nutkins still on the drums? - if so, surely there's a case that an exo-skeleton is on the loose?
Something for you to ponder whilst you enjoy your latte P.

His combination of Huntsmanlike irreverant wit and Rocket Micklike C.D. distribution is a winning combo.
I think snoopy's descendants have clearly been left in charge of some flying contraptions with guns and bombs attached. Rumours of Clunk and Muttleys involvement is thus far, uncorroborated.
Surely they have CD stores in that little town of yours, H, don't they?
My taste for Rolled Oats is not of recent vintage, H. Their last good record was released in the early 1970's. Surely they're not to be blamed for getting older?
Yes, I believe Barley Potts still bangs the drums. What I find hard to deal with is that Rod Upstart's former bandmate is part of the group now.
Who is this Geoff Hank? - its like the Usual Suspension Belts this now, which admittedly is very unusual.
Did you enjoy Man U taking a real beating last night?
P, our coastal village contains the following: 3 newsagents selling crisps and papers 1 extremely small tea shop (about 3 chairs come outside in the summer to entice the local) 1 fish and chip shop (who have notably turned to boxes to house their goods instead of the traditional newsprint - fools) 2 Chinese takeaways (both poor) 1 Indian takeaway (not bad, not bad at all) 2 Pizza takeaways (one of which is brilliant) 1 Joke shop 1 Cake shop 1 Chemist 4 Hairdressing salons (that's '4'!) 1 Train station (approx. 2 trains depart daily to the city) A great many smaller fishing vessels Several places to keep horses and such A cave where a warlock is rumoured to live
Unfortunately, we do not have: A video shop A record shop A cinema A decent taxidermist A night club Any fancy dress hiring facility A runway
So hopefully now you can appreciate how difficult it is for me to acquire goods.
I would never hold it against the Stoats for ageing, in fact, I quite like it. My only reservation is thus; they are a poor man's Beatniks, a tag they have never shaken off. Even with the advent of one, Yoke of Eggo.
![]()
So you do have a third-rate taxidermist, then?
Where do you rent your DVD's, which I believe you have described doing, H?
I never cared for the Fab Four, as I believe they were known, but surely that hoary rivalry can be forgotten.
Of course it can Pat, but I see McCartney is desperately referencing all the old gear as 'McCartwheel and Lennon'! - nice one Paul.
I think P McC has a bad press, he's quite a good egg (not that I know him). Just because he recorded the Frog Song doesn't make him an outright whimp. He couldn't have penned a more masculine ditty in my world.
We hire our movies from a rival town that has a supermarket and a few decent arcades. Although I do bang on about films it isn't that commonplace. I tend to rabbit on about a few choice efforts which may give out the incorrect messages, that we hire 50 a week. We don't. Once every other weekend is likely, although we did do the double this last week with One Hour Photography and Daniel Darkwind. One good, the other bad.
I spent as much of my time writing music. And I'm still writing that book, although it isn't full of gags.

Glad to hear you're still working on the book, H.
PM may be a good egg, but he grates on me. Not that I would care to spend any time with MJ.
Also glad to hear you're not really limited to that one row of shops. Next time you're in the mall see if they have Interpol.
That one row of shops is an excellent description of our available options.
'The mall'!? ... I'm afraid I haven't the time to drive into the centre of London.
I've heard Amazon supply a good product.

Nop!
I think I've become hard boiled in a torrent of patter which was aimed at provoking the BMG battles of yester-year.
I will leave it now, as I don't think anybody truly knows ... and really, is re-incarnation so bad?
![]()
Well, then, H, Amazon it is!!
I've had nothing but good experiences with them!
Wouldn't London be The Mall, rather than the mall?
yes, but i thought lower case would keep you guessing.
and then i couldn't decide which i meant.
a fluke, if you will.
Capitals are so ugly, when used incorrectly.

The intrigue of just who Geoff Dick is, is quite good. I'm still trying to work out who's who at the BMG place. And what exactly prompted them to infiltrate this place, rather than the main patter zone. There's seems to be more to this than first expected. Also, does Hank really know G Dick or is this also a charade? - does anyone still play charades now that Star Wars Monopoly is below 24 pounds?

It's an advance field agent infiltration. Within 2 weeks this forum will be annexed by employees of major record labels, and all threads will be about profit margins, sales targets and the latest scam to screw the poor punter with.
all you need know is that grant is the man opposite geoff, and that ken told geoff to come here.
Rivers old boy, I don't think they know who Ken is. Ken and Rivers used to go dancing with FillyFil and occasionally Milo. I think Oscar_the_Grouch may have also been out dancing but I wasn't out that time. [waves]
There is somebody in our local supermarket selling cocktail sausages, and her name badge says; 'Beccy'.
