Maise consumers, its simple, describe the most disgracefully violent horror film you ever did witness.

For those who where around during the banning of many Betamax / VHS titles such as:

The Texan Chain Store Mysteries Cannibal Foxes Zombie Flesh Consumers Drilling Killer Snut The Wolf that Stole my Hat

... there could be a horror that comes to mind.

Personally, I watched Snut and spent the next 6 months working out whether it was real or a sheer fabrication (thankfully it was not real as the lady who gets it often gives interviews to people like George just to prove she never got it). That was the most naughty, although a few of the early 80's zombie films where hastily put together.

Nowadays the full, untrimmed versions are now available but I wonder if they haven't been snipped a little.

Any thoughts?

I tend to avoid those movies.

tackles chainsaws with genitals was never really that violent, it was just good atmospherics & the suggestion of violence that mostly happened off screen

got the recent special edition dvd of that one, nice.

I've seen that dvd for tcm for sale, is it any good from the dvd/extras/blahblah perspective?

i've never seen the original so if i was to watch it would it be a worthy purchase?

D, TCatsupM is certainly a weird film. It runs like a documentary (which seemingly nobody seems to mention). The opening 45 mins. is baffling, which makes it so unnerving.

A thoroughly scary film - watch alone and late at night for maximum hair tingle.

The single most disturbing moment of perhaps any horror film is the shocking speed with which leatherfascia bolts out from behind the metal home crafted doorway to the kitchen wielding the chainsaw. Needless to say the unlucky victim does not have much time with which to make an escape.

But does he/she escape?

its got lovely animated menus.

not watched the extras but there's a documentary about it & trailers for the sequels (inc a hilarious lady of the lake one)

would disagree that it is done in documentary style, there are no interviews or narration - its steadicam work following a group of kids as their van nreaks down that sort of thing.

leatherfaces 1st appearance is a classic. its well worth getting as it doesnt rely on special effects for the scares but on timing & suspense.

I will NOT participate in this particular thread, Monsieur Huntsman. I do not like horror movies, unless you're refering to the old Hammer flicks... Cronenberg's "The Fly", however, is a masterpiece.

The Fly is a goodie, hardly a horror flick, more sci-fi, which is presumably why you liked it.

The Thing, hey, J Carpenter, mmmm ... come on ...

Ah, "The Thing".....I still can't watch the dog-splitting-apart portion of the flick (I've only seen it on TV, and they alwyas edit out the chest-ripping-the-guy's-arms-off bit)

Actually, I would like to submit another Carpenter classic, the original Halloween. Long before Michael Myers became a cliche (or a hugely successful former SNL member :p ), this was suspenseful and scary. Very scary

Not a fan of the genre (I get enough horror on the News), but I guess The Thing and Reanimator.

Oh, I remember something I stayed up late for when I was a kid and which gave me nightmares long after, I think it was 'election night 1979' or something like that.

The TROLLENBERG TERROR!Well scary but not sure of the spelling.I was 7 when i saw this.Actually it was BLOODY funny even then.Loved all the old black and white HAMMER HOUSE OF HORROR..i know they are in colour but my tv was black and white!:D

talking of black and white films ROCKET, does anyone remember ERASERHEAD??? now thats one madly fucked up film!!!
