So, another sport thread.

How about baseball? What do you think will happen? I'm quite surprised to see my Expos in first place of their division when all the other teams are packed teams with good players (there is no way we'll make it this year)...

I know, there isn't one month done yet, but I'm impressed, especially since the best player in the game is not warmed yet.. (yes you heard it, Vladimir Guerrero is the man!)

Don't know yet if we'll have a team next year, but if only that team had an owner that believed success could finally bring people to the stadium, we'll have an all-star team on the field!

For all of that money, he better be! Too bad the Rangers don't have a lot of decent pitching, but they'll still be better than they were the last two years, and won't be eliminated from the playoffs by May as happened then.

In the meantime, go Giants and Mariners, and anybody who is playing the Red Sox and Cardinals.

i used to watch expos baseball for a while. i would always end up napping while watching. same thing with the blue jays, but i'll always cheer on the expos....i thought they were moving to the US?.

I'm a Cubs fan. Therefore there is no hope to see them win the World Series in my lifetime.

Yeah, like Soccer, you tend to sleep when watching baseball, for some reason :D

When you go at the stadium, you never follow the game because you're always too busy doing something else... :lol:

I predict it'll be the Devil Rays over the Padres in the World Series, 4-3 with a dramatic bunt in the 9th inning with bases loaded being the deciding factor :D

Or the Red Sox over the Cubs :shrug: it could happen!....

I'm a Cincinnati fan. They're cellar-dwellers again this year, but they're MY cellar-dwellers! I'd LOVE to see an I-71 series between the Reds and the Tribe, with the Reds winning. I also have a warm spot in my heart for the Cubbies. They deserve a World Series win!!!!!

As for the Bosox...they suck, they always sucked, and I hope that the curse of the Babe hangs over them FOREVER. The only good thing about the Bosox is the Green Monster and Carlton Fisk for making that incredible homer in game 6 of the '75 series against Cinti.

In my dreams: Cinti over the Indians in 6 OR... Cubbies over the Red Sox in 4, winning at Fenway to really rub it in

Oh yeah...went to see Bench and Yaz go into the Hall of Fame in 1989. It was INCREDIBLE..a sea of red flowing for miles around...

Ever since the Yankess got their ass handed to them by Arizona in 2001, the World Series has seemed to open up a bit to wildcard or "how in the hell?" outcomes. Personnally, while a diehard Yankees fan, even I got sick of them going back and getting it done in 4 or 5 games. When they finally won again in 1996, beating my up-til-then beloved Braves (who suck now, and are a huge disappointment no matter how many National league championships they got in the 90s) it was special, but when one particular team begins to dominate it becomes sort of...well, boring.

At any rate, the Cubs actually seem to be doing well (granted, I don't keep up with baseball like I used to, so I have to rely on what Chicago-owned WGN says), and I wouldn't mind seeing them in the Series, against someone like the Orioles or the Sox (Either White or Red).

Well, what you have to learn from it, never let someone who is a "reseller" buy your team... he will try to sell it back or move it to make a profit! And it worked.

This idiot came here, stopped the new stadium project and cancelled all the tv broadcasting, so the Expos were blackouted from the TV everywhere.

Now they wonder why the attendance dropped!

Baseball is most popular sport in South Korea. I thnik almost milddle-aged Korean men are Baseball fans. My father took me Baseball games when I was young. He is a big fan of Baseball. But others of my family are football fan. He is alone :D.

lately i've been obsessed with old 70's and 80's sports team uniforms. i really, really want an old Houston Astros jacket, just for camp value. does anyone remember those ugly things? or how about those old 70's Pittsburgh Pirates uniforms with the pillbox hats? absolutely DISGUSTING! oh my god. so intense.

me and my 10 year old boy saw the mets/astros game last night (7-4 Mets) mets played a lot of the backups and had some offense for a change...leave all the high priced guys on the bench right??

How about them Yankees? From what I hear, even without Jeter they're kicking ass and taking names. Forget what I said earlier about some no-nothing AL team getting to the Series, make it the Cubs and Yankees for me! (Yankees in 6)

My team, the Montreal Expos, have a korean pitcher in their staff called Seung-Woo Kim.

And the pitcher of the other team the Expos faced yesterday, the Arizona Diamondbacks, is korean too and his name is Byung-Hung Kim.

Therefore, if you are Korean and your last name is "Kim", you have good chances of pitching in the major leagues.

Nah, just the two teams with the most annoying fans I know of; the Red Sox w/the aforementioned fanatic, who calls Nomar GOD (after the Bosox were thrashed Thursday by the Rangers 16-5, I noticed that GOD went 0 for 4, struck out twice, and left at least 3 runners on base. When was the last time GOD left runners on in scoring position (atheists, please don't answer that one :lol: )

The Cardinals? Well they're my dad's favorite team, so of course I have to root against them ;) Plus, they're in the Mets division, so that's another reason. BTW, I've never gotten over the Mets trading Lenny Dykstra for Juan-fookin'-Samuel!!!!!!!!! :wtf: :nonono: :lol:

AND DAVE CONCEPCION WAS A GREAT SHORTSTOP FOR THE REDS!!!!

Anybody remembers Damaso Garcia by the way?

I know, Seb, I know, it just killed me when they traded a big fan favorite for a player who was starting on the downside of his career; poor Juan never really had a chance, and NY fans can be a tad, err, vocal in their opinions; plus I know he didn't ask to be traded to the Mets.

Yes, Davey C. was great, as was the entire infield for the Big Red Machine. Damaso Garcia was also pretty damn good for the Blue Jays back in the late 80's, wasn't it? Decent start for your Expos as well (here's hoping that they don't wind up in Oregon next year, for your sake)

I know...if we had any kind of decent pitching we MIGHT be close to being in the race. Maybe they should just get some high school players?

You might end up with Kearns and Dunn if the Reds don't sign them to long-term contracts. The powers that be in the organization have their heads up their asses for not doing it yet. I'm SO tired of the Reds being the AAA farm team to all of baseball.
