Out of interest FourFortyFive, what can you tell us about the existence -- or not -- of an original 1983 UK Blue Monday 7" promo? Fac 73/7 perhaps?

Does such a beast exist?

Debate has reared its ugly head again but while the likes of Sultan, Ivarsson and Fernando are of the belief it may have been pressed, no one seems to have actually laid eyes on a copy.

I know that a 7" was discussed as Wilson believed it would sell multiple millions on that format - as it did anyway on 12" - but there was no way to fit the full track on 7" without an edit - something the band wished to avoid. This WAS produced as a very limited promo in Japan (edited) but as far as I know - and I have looked into this - there was little more than discussion about the production of a normal 45 RPM 7" Blue Monday.

What readers must not become confused with are any experimental test pressings or acetates that may exist - though interesting (and valuable) in themselves, they do NOT give any indication as to whether or not a full or even limited production would then take place...

Would it be possible to be a little more specific please?
