THE WEDDING PRESENT

Well, they may not be exactly new or trendy or even still together but they're awesome, I had the opportunity to attend one of their early gigs at the time of the "George Best" album and what a great gig that was!

Vibrant, funny, approchable, full of beans and with one of the best set of songs I have ever heard. Three minute pills of the best pop ever. If you used to love them go and fetch your old CD's (vinyls, more like) if you've never heard them do it soon. You won't regret it.

Errm..I do not work for their label. I do not play bass with them, either.

Ah, the Weddoes ! Some fond memories of their gigs - never met a band before who would take requests for bootlegs and then send them off the day after the gig ! Keith and Grapper were great lads, very friendly. Gedge was always a miserable git though, seemed to think he was a pop star.

The Wedding Present was a great band, saw them a couple of times "Kennedy" " Seamonsters" ooooh heady days....

Ah well.

Dave Gedge though was a tosser. I shouted for MORE at one of his gigs at the end of a song and he told me that that was typical of the type of audience he didn't want to attract. I then shouted WANKER. He didn't like that either.

Oh yes, the Wedding Present, can't remember what major label they were on in 96, when I saw them opening up for The Chills, but the singer sure seemed to take himself a bit too seriously up on stage. I enjoyed their music a lot that night, but they paled next to the Chills; besides, Martin Phillips is a lot funnier than ol' Dave, and writes better songs to boot.

Great band, wish I had something by them!

My coz started me on them, one of these days I'll pick up an album or two by them I'm sure.

Funny you all remember Gedge as a bit of a wanker because I had exactly the opposite notion, when I saw them he was very relaxed and I distinctly remember him talking to the audience and ending up the concert playing seated propped against one of the columns of the stage.

Maybe I caught him at a good time...

What do you think about Cinerama? It was Dave's next project...not bad IMO
