NBA PLAYOFFS

Well, after tonight, it looks like my Celtics are done for the year. As strange as it sounds, I'm rooting for Detroit (a.k.a. Music City, USA) to go to the finals. I hate New Jersey more than anything and hope that Detroit can get past Philly to surprise New Jersey in the next round. My favorite player for Detroit is Tayshaun Prince, and he's had such a good playoff that I know he'll keep producing. Go Pistons!?

As for 'my' Jail Blazers , the most consistently embarrassing team in professional sports for the last couple of years, good news has arrived with the dismissal of general manager Bob Whitsitt, a man who has admitted that he is not a "chemistry major" when it comes to putting a team together. Shawn Kemp for Brian Grant? kinda shite trade is that? Time to get rid of that clown RaWEED Wallace; way to disappear in a crucial game 7; what a freakin' TarHOLE.

I agree. Get rid of Wallace, his problems outweigh his attributes tenfold. The only player I like on that team is Derek Anderson. They should find more players like him. Who aren't injured.

Thank you very much San Antonio for blasting the Lakers at their own crib in a game that sure seemed that LA took for granted that they were gonna win, what with that furious comeback in Game 5, and the shot that rimmed in and out. Rock the shaq no more, the king is dead!!! Don't really care who wins the title this year now, though it would be nice to see the Spurs win it to send the Admiral out on a high note, and to shut Phil up for ever bothering to suggest that the Spurs other title came in a strike-shortened season, and thereby should carry an asterisk.

Amen to the anti-Laker sentiment, a three-peat does NOT mean you can sit on your ass and just have the championship handed to you. I never have been much of a regular basketball watcher, but I occasionally watch the Playoffs for the excitement of games that actually matter.

I caught Game Six just as the third quarter was winding down, and it was obvious that Kobe and Shaq were carrying the team, and Shaq didn't seem all that interested in doing so. Quite frankly San Antonio wanted it more last night, and the Spurs made it a very watchable game.

Anyway, it seems like anytime a "dynasty" gets started in sports, after a while it becomes a bore. To have one team keep getting the championship is a bit of a letdown, especially if you're rooting for another team. It's good to have a little variety, a good upset (like the Angels over the Giants or the Diamondbacks over the Yankees) to shake things up, make it interesting to casual fans and diehards alike. Adios, Lakers, it was fun......you don't suppose they rioted in LA over this? (I think sports towns tend to riot whether or not their team wins anyway)

Props and love to Sac-Town for giving a valiant effort despite the loss of team superstar C-Web.

It will be VERY interesting to see which teams style prevails in the Western Conference Finals: San Antonio with the half-court or Dallas with the fun-n-gun.....

It all starts Monday on TNT.

Though I've been a Tim Duncan fan since his college days at Wake Forest, I wouldn't mind one bit if the Mavs go on to win this thing, and everybody I know is buzzing about making 49 straight free throws in a game, which is freaking incredible. but this thing will still probably go 7 games.

Special thanks to the Mavs for getting Bob Whitsitt out of the Jail Blazers organization; now Geoff Petrie can come back to Portland and do what he did down in Sac-Town.

While I'm not predicting game six and seven heroics without Dirk, I also wouldn't bet against the Mavs.

When their backs are against the wall they just refuse to give up. Whatever the outcome, I don't give the Nets a snowball's chance.

The Western Conference Finals will crown a new champion. The last series vs. NJ is just a formality.
